NFC East Game Previews- San Francisco 49ers vs Philadelphia Eagles
The San Francisco 49ers will look to make an early statement in the NFC West with a victory over the struggling Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field. The kick-off in this one is slated for 1 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast regionally on FOX.

San Francisco has taken the early lead in the division with a 2-1 straight-up start (2-0-1 against the spread). It rolled over Seattle 33-17 as a six-point home favorite in the opener with the total easily going ‘over’ the 38-point line.
After a tough 27-24 loss to Dallas in overtime as three-point road underdogs, the 49ers grinded out an ugly 13-8 win over Cincinnati last Sunday as 1.5-point road underdogs. The total went ‘over’ the 41-point line against the Cowboys, but stayed well ‘under’ the 40-point line in last week’s game.
Despite the encouraging start, San Francisco still has major concerns with an offense that is ranked near the bottom of the league in both passing and rushing yards per game. Quarterback Alex Smith has thrown for a total of 504 yards in three games and running back Frank Gore is averaging 2.5 yards a carry.
Philadelphia has stumbled out to an unexpected 1-2 SU and ATS start after blowing a 10-point lead to Atlanta in a 35-31 loss as a 2.5-point road favorite and completely collapsing down the stretch in a 29-16 loss to the Giants this past Sunday as a nine-point home favorite. The total has gone ‘over’ in two of its first three games. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
The big story so far has been the health of quarterback Michael Vick, who was knocked out of the Falcons’ game with a concussion and had to leave the game against New York with a bruised right hand. He is expected to start in this game, but it is anyone’s guess how long he will last this time given how poor his offensive line has played so far.
The 49ers are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games against the NFC, but 0-5 ATS in their last five games against Philadelphia. The favorite in this series is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings and the total has gone ‘over’ in six of the last seven games.
Despite the injuries to Vick, there is just too much talent on this team for the Eagles to keep losing games this way, especially at home. Bank on Philly to get its act together this Sunday with a solid win that covers the 8.5-point spread.
