These two teams met up at M&T Bank Field in Week 3 of the NFL betting campaign, with the Ravens taking a 34-3 decision. The Browns are looking for payback though, and are hoping to shine under the bright lights of Monday night!

The Ravens have played one of the toughest schedules in the NFL to date, and it’s really starting to show. Last week marked their second loss of the season to the Bengals. The 17-7 defeat was a dominant one, as Baltimore was physically crushed by a traditionally soft Cincinnati squad. The Ravens only mustered 215 total yards of offense, largely thanks to an offensive line that had an awful game. The unit only opened up enough holes to account for 55 rushing yards on 17 carries, while it also allowed QB Joe Flacco to get sacked four times.

The Delaware product faced a ton of pressure throughout the entirety of the game, and it didn’t help that his squad fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter. Flacco ended the day going 18 of 32 for 195 yards with two interceptions. The only bright spot of the offense was the play of RB Ray Rice who continued to impress in his second year out of Rutgers. He rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown and led the team in receiving with eight catches for 87 yards.

Cleveland’s defense has to smiling at that, but it can’t be too happy with the way that its offense has played this year. The bye week came at the perfect time for HC Eric Mangini, as his squad has only mustered five offensive touchdowns for the entire season. The Browns have only scored a total of nine points in their L/2 games combined, and they have been held in single digits in five of their eight games.

However, after general manager George Kokinis was dismissed last week, it’s pretty clear that everyone in the Cleveland organization, from quarterbacks to defensive linemen, rookies to veterans, and every coach on the staff, is performing for his job in 2010. That has to spark a team that ranks 31st in total offense (221.1 yards per game) and 32nd in total defense (409.1 yards per game). If there’s something for prospective Browns bettors to grab a hold of, it’s that their last primetime appearance was a strong effort, a 34-30 defeat to the Broncos in what amounted to be the most points that the team would score in its next 15 games and counting.

You have to go back to the 2007 season to find the last time that the Browns beat the Ravens either SU or ATS. Baltimore has posted three straight double-digit victories in this series, including a 37-27 smack down the last time it paid a visit to the “Dawg Pound”.
