MNF – Carolina Panthers vs. Dallas Cowboys

Two teams that have underachieved in the NFL betting season hook up in the Lone Star State to close out the NFL’s third week of play on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. The Dallas Cowboys (1-1, 1-1 ATS) will go in search of their first regular season victory in their new stadium against the slumping Carolina Panthers (0-2, 0-2 ATS).

Bookmaker Sportsbook customers will have all of the NFL wagering lines available to them for this MNF betting contest! Though Carolina and Dallas have met four times since 2004, the last time the Panthers paid a visit to “Big D” was in 2003. The Cowboys are 8-1 SU and 6-2-1 ATS in their L/9 meetings with the defending NFC South champions.

Even if you include the preseason, the Panthers haven’t tasted victory since December 28th of last season. In that stretch, they haven’t scored more than two offensive touchdowns in any game. They are also 0-7 ATS since the end of ’08 as well. After getting dismantled in the City of Brotherly Love, 38-10 in Week 1, Carolina left the Georgia Dome with a 28-20 loss last week. QB Jake Delhomme had yet another shaky game, as he went 25/41 for 308 yards with one touchdown and a pick. It marked the tenth straight game for Carolina’s signal caller without throwing more than one TD pass. Defensively, the Panthers conceded 371 yards of offense, including 105 yards on the ground by RB Michael Turner.

HC John Fox’s boys rank 26th in the NFL in points per game and 30th in points allowed. Yes, the schedule has been difficult, but it isn’t getting any easier for the Panthers and losing just isn’t acceptable. With the bye week coming up next week, Fox may be coaching for his job, and Delhomme may be throwing for his.

Owner Jerry Jones was certainly not a happy camper after Dallas’ 33-31 loss to the Giants in Week 2. Save possibly the Saints, the Cowboys have been the closest thing to a dead nuts ‘over’ squad in the NFL. Both of their games have flown past the ‘total’ by at least two scores. Offensively, they rank second in the league in total offense (420.0 yards per game), first in rushing (184.5 yards per game), and third in points scored (32.5 per game). However, defensively, they rank 30th in total defense (438.5 yards per game), 30th against the pass (303.0 yards per game), and 26th in points allowed (27.0 per game).

QB Tony Romo needs to improve his numbers, as he has only completed 51.8% of his passes this season for 480 yards with four touchdowns against three picks. Truth be told, his receiving corps just doesn’t look the same without WR Terrell Owens in the fold. WRs Patrick Crayton, Roy Williams, and Miles Austin have only combined to catch ten balls in two games; that simply won’t cut it…

The ‘Boys have been lined at -8.5 by the oddsmakers, while the NFL wagering over/under has been set at 47.5. Bookmaker.com is your official one-stop shop for Monday Night Football betting, so sign-up for an account right now and start placing your football bets on all the action!
