New York Jets vs. Tennessee Titans Preview

Mark Sanchez will start for the Jets in this game and time may be running out to prove if he is the Jets’ starting QB for the future. NFL lines have the Titans as slight 1.5-point home favorites with a total of 42.

This season the Titans are only 2-4 at home the Jets are 3-3 on the road.

Last week the Jets beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 17-10 while the Titans lost to the Indianapolis Colts 27-23.

On the season the Jets are 7-6 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 6-7 and the Titans are 4-9 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 7-6.

Sanchez did not have a big game last week passing for only 111 yards and not throwing a TD for the 2nd straight game, but it was key that he was not picked off. He has a less than stellar WR corps, but Braylon Edwards was claimed by the team to help out. The Titans only rank 26th in the league in pass defense and on top of that their pass rush has not been good this season at pressuring the opposing QB.

The Jets will look to use the RB duo of Shonn Greene and Bilal Powell early and often and these guys have combined for 317 yards on the ground in the Jets’ 2-game winning streak. They have to be a big concern for the Titans’ run defense, which only ranks 23rd in the league.[soliloquy id=”82219″]

Jake Locker is putting up solid numbers lately, but in the Titans’ recent 3-game slide he had 7 INT and only 3 TD. TE Jared Cook is out for this game with an injury, but WR Nate Washington is still a solid pass catching threat. The Jets have the league’s 3rd ranked pass defense, but their last game facing a good passing team was the Patriots where their secondary was picked apart by Tom Brady.

Johnson has another 1000+ yard rushing season, but in the last 3 games he has a grand total of 175 yards on the ground. Maybe he can snap out of his slump facing a New York rushing D that only ranks 29th in the league.

In some betting trends for this AFC match up the Jets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games on the road and in their last 5 games playing a team with a losing record they have an Under record of 4-1.

The Titans are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games at home and in their last 11 games at home they have an Under record of 7-3-1 ATS.

Jason’s Pick: The Titans will get a good game from Johnson and this game will be a low scoring close one, but Tennessee is at home and they will win and cover.
