How Can New Orleans Win?

They can win because they are still the champs. Nobody has knocked the Saints off of their pedestal yet and they are going to show why.

The Falcons may have the better record this season but the Saints have the coaching, the savvy and the experience to know how to win big games like this. The Falcons are still learning.

After a slow start to the season, the Saints offense is cooking right now. Last week, they had a tough time in Baltimore in cold weather outdoors, but now that they are back in the cozy setting of the Georgia Dome, they should be just fine.

Lastly, the Saints should have their stable of running backs healthy on Sunday as Pierre Thomas, Reggie Bush and Julius Jones are ready to go. That’ll be key for balance on Monday night.

How Can Atlanta Win?

Run the football.

The Falcons are at home, where they are 19-1 when Matt Ryan starts, and they’ll be even tougher to stop if Michael Turner is running well to provide balance. The Saints have an underrated defense that likes to send plenty of blitzes, but if Turner is burning them up the middle, they are going to have a hard time keying in on Ryan.

The Falcons just have plenty of balance. With Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez in the passing game to supplement Turner, the Falcons are hard to slow down at any point. More importantly, they execute so well. They move the chain suck up plenty of time of possession and control almost every football game they play. The same will be the case this week.

On defense, the Falcons are underrated as well. They have the eighth-ranked scoring defense and while it won’t pitch a shutout, they’ll get stops at home like they always do.

Outlook

This is a very even matchup between two teams that could be facing each other in a month from now for the NFC Championship. The Falcons need a win to lock up home field advantage but the Saints would love nothing more than to get the win and plant the seed that the Falcons are beatable at the Georgia Dome.

But nobody is executing better than the Falcons – especially at home. They stuffed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers late in the fourth quarter when they had an uprising, when they needed last-minute scores against the Green Bay Packers or Baltimore Ravens, they got the job done.

The Saints will play one of their best games of the season but so will the Falcons. The Falcons will win the time of possession and Ryan will lead them on one key drive to seal the deal.
