N.Y. vs Dallas Monday NFL Betting – Cowboys Finally Back On Track?

The Dallas Cowboys are 1-4, but they aren’t dead in the water. If they have any hope of making the playoffs, though, it starts with a big home win on Monday Night Football against the New York Giants, who conveniently happen to be one of the teams they are chasing in the NFC East.

How Can New York Win?

Just let the Cowboys self-destruct.

The Giants are very familiar with the Cowboys style as they sometimes play it. The Giants were sloppy in home games against the Carolina Panthers and the Tennessee Titans, and it cost them one bad loss and another near loss.

When the Giants are on their game, Eli Manning is making smart decisions, the running back tandem of Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs are holding onto the football and the offensive line is protecting. If the Giants can accomplish that, they are going to be in great shape to win this Monday.

On defense, the Giants have one of the best defensive lines in all of football and they should be licking their chops at the opportunity to abuse the Cowboys crumbling offensive line. If they can get pressure on Tony Romo, he’s going to make mistakes. The Cowboys are very prone to that.

How Can Dallas Win?

Stop shooting themselves in the foot.

Whether it’s offensive penalties, costly turnovers or coaching gaffes, the Cowboys have to play smart and give their team a chance to win instead of costing themselves that opportunity each week. They lead the league in penalty yards per game.

Without turnovers, the Cowboys could have potentially won their last two games, which would make them 3-2 instead of the dreaded 1-4. But could have, should have and would have could also lead to 1-5 if they don’t smarten up.

The facts remain the same: the Cowboys have the league’s third-ranked offense and the fourth-ranked defense. There is plenty of talent to get the job done. But without a doubt, they have to stop with the boneheaded plays and just put forth a nice, clean effort.

This is a division game for the Cowboys and they know their opponent very well. Now they just have to go out and execute.

Outlook

Most power rankings probably rank the Giants near the top of the NFC but we know that that side of the league is parity-filled. Is there really much of a difference between the Giants and Cowboys?

Sloppy mistakes are the difference, but otherwise, they are very evenly matched teams.

But when you throw in home-field advantage and the fact that the Cowboys absolutely must have this game, they are going to get the win and cover.

Look for their first focused effort in weeks with minimal mistakes in front of the bright lights on Monday night.
