Monday Night Football Doubleheader Picks
LOOKING FOR THE BEST NFL CAPPERS ON THE PLANET FOR YOUR WEEK 1 GAMBLING PICKS??? —>
As always, NFL odds didn’t fully go the way we expected in week 1. That’s what makes the sport so great. Who knew the Texans wouldn’t score an offensive touchdown or that Denver would break Cincinnati’s heart with a recreation of the Immaculate Reception?
The question now is whether or not we should expect any shockers in tonight’s two Monday nighters, both of which are projected by betting services to be major blowouts.
Buffalo Bills @ New England Patriots (-11.5)
Tonight, 7:00 p.m. ET
If online betting trends mean anything, everyone believes the Patriots are poised to recapture their 2007 dominance. A healthy Tom Brady is usually an unstoppable Tom Brady; he has great targets in Randy Moss and Wes Welker and the Patriots should get some production on the ground between Fred Taylor, Sammy Morris and Laurence Maroney. The Buffalo Bills’ offense is supposed to improve with Terrell Owens’ arrival but sure had us fooled in the preseason. Trent Edwards couldn’t throw the deep ball and the no-huddle offense didn’t produce points like it was supposed to. The Bills may struggle to score against a hungry Pats “D” that mixes veterans and youth. The 11.5-point spread is justified; the Bills look flat and the Patriots look sharp.
NFL pick: Patriots -11.5

San Diego Chargers (-10) vs Oakland Raiders
Tonight, 10:15 p.m. ET
Poor, poor Oakland. From drafting Darrius Heyward-Bey to the Richard Seymour fiasco, it was another wacky offseason for the Raiders. Now, odds makers kick them while they’re down by making them 10-point dogs at home. It’s hard to blame anyone for picking the Chargers despite the 10-point spread, though; they have oodles of offensive talent. Phil Rivers can hit Antonio Gates or Vincent Jackson in the red zone and Darren Sproles and LaDainian Tomlinson (sort of) are home-run threats out of the backfield.
There’s a chance the Raiders could beat the spread; they’re at home and the Charger defense isn’t totally invincible. Maybe Darren McFadden goes off? Still, I’d only pick the Raiders if I was feeling lucky and reckless. The Chargers are too talented not to put 25-plus points on the board with their eyes closed.
NFL pick: Chargers -10

It makes absolutely no sense to even think about taking the points in either of these two games. This should be a walk in the park for both the Patriots and the Chargers.
