Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions Free Gambling Prediction & Week 4 Preview

Vikings vs Lions NFL Football Spread/Handicapping

Minnesota pulled off probably the biggest shocker of last week as they beat San Francisco as 7 point underdogs.  Sure the game was at home but nobody really gave them a chance of beating a 49ers that was looking like the best in the league.

Minnesota

Now they have to try and stay focused on the road against a familiar opponent – the Lions.

The Vikings are not likely to be a real contender in the NFC North but they can certainly play spoiler.

The win against San Fran was hardly a thing of beauty but the Vikings avoided mistakes and made the games few difference making plays with an interception and a couple of sacks.

Playing with the lead they were able to stick with running the football even though it wasn’t super effective.

Running back Adrian Peterson is likely to enjoy toting the rock more against a Detroit team that is historically not all that stout.

At 2-1 the VIkings are surprised to find themselves tied atop the NFC North.

This is a huge game for them because if they win they can continue to compete in the division, especially with some very winnable games on the horizon – motivation should be high.  The Vikings have been a pretty good bet against Detroit of late with a 3-1-2 ATS trend.

Not sure there is great value at the current number though.  See where it goes towards kickoff, I think it will rise. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Detroit

The Lions have got to be licking their wounds after a painful end to their loss on Sunday.

After scoring an amazing two touchdowns in less than 20 seconds they couldn’t complete the task eventually losing to Tennessee in overtime.  Making matters worse is that they also lost their starting QB Matt Stafford in the 4th quarter.

It might not be serious but they now have an uphill climb if they want to maintain their playoff status.

As of writing Matt Stafford was probable for Sunday’s game against Minnesota.  I do like Stafford but truth be told I think they can win this game without him.

Especially if they can keep up the solid rushing defense they have displayed so far this season.  Teams have thrown against Detroit but Minny is not that great in that area so the Lions at home should be able to get away with it, especially if they can generate some pass rush.

Event without Stafford the Lions can still put forth an explosive offense.  This line is hovering in the dead zone but I think it will continue to move up as kickoff approaches.

I like the Detroit side so I won’t be waiting.  Perfect teaser opportunity as you could tease them down to an underdog.

No way they lose outright…right?

Spread Pick: Detroit -4.5
