Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears Free Gambling Prediction & Week 12 Preview

Vikings vs Bears NFL Football Spread/Handicapping

The Vikings are not setting the world on fire but they are still in the hunt for a playoff spot as they head down the stretch. They are coming off their bye week and with the extra prep and Chicago missing their starting QB they may be catching the Bears at the perfect time.

Minnesota

A win this week would could really put them in driver’s seat for a playoff spot but it won’t be easy as this Vikings squad does not travel very well.

This will be a rare game where the Vikings have an advantage at quarterback.  Christian Ponder has had some ugly games this season but is coming off a great one against Detroit last week in a critical victory.  Of course the VIkings try and take the pressure off him by using Adrian Peterson as much as possible.  He is on one of the best runs of his career with 4 straight games rushing for 123 yards and more.

As one of the pleasant surprises of the league you would think the Vikings would have a better ATS record than 4-5-1.  They got their first ATS win in more than a month last week and are catching more points than I would have made the game given how bad Chicago looked last week.

I am not saying you have to play them but I don’t think you can fade them this week.

Chicago

The Bears looked as bad as could be in getting spanked by San Francisco last Monday night in a battle of backup QBs.[soliloquy id=”82219″]

The offense was a mess but more concerning is that the defense which has put them in their current position seemed kind of disinterested.  Now they have an even bigger game really against Minnesota a team they are going to have to beat twice in the next three weeks if they want to maintain their playoff positioning.

Jay Cutler is still out this week so the Bears are looking to QB Jason Campbell once again.  He may not inspire tremendous confidence but he also won’t be facing the 49ers defense.

Rush end Aldon Smith ate up the Bears last week and they can’t let Jared Allen do the same thing.

Running the ball effectively would help.  The Bears have the 10th best rushing attack in the league but it was shutdown against San Francisco.  If that happens again the result may be similar too.

Some of the Bears have to be thinking to themselves “here we go again”.  Other than Brandon Marshall at receiver I am not sure they are a better team than last year which frittered away a hot start down the stretch.  This game is critical both because of its opponent and for confidence.

It is a hard one to handicap so I would stay away from the Chicago side.
