Denver Broncos vs. New England Patriots Preview

On the season the Broncos are 4-3 ATS and they have an O/U record of 5-2 and the Patriots are 4-4 ATS and they have
an O/U record of 6-2.

This season the Patriots are 4-0 at home and the Broncos are 1-1 on the road.

In their last games the Broncos beat the San Diego Chargers 35-21 and the Patriots beat the Chicago Bears 51-23.

These teams met in the AFC title game last season and with the way both are playing it would not be a surprise if that happened again. The Broncos won the AFC Championship game and even though the Patriots are 4-0 at home this season they are a 3-point betting underdog in this game.

After many doubted if the Pats were still a legit title contender they have won 4 straight and their offense blew up for 51 points in their last game. Denver has also won 4 straight and in their winning streak they have won every game by at least 14 points.

Obviously the big match up in this game is between QB Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, who are both playing well. However, the Pats have the edge on defense, as their pass D ranks 2nd in the league while the Broncos only rank 17th.

Manning has a great WR corps led by Demaryius Thomas, who ranks 4th in the league in receiving yards. In his last 3 games Manning has 10 TD and has not been picked off. New England has 21 sacks on the season and it will take a ton of pressure off the secondary if they can pressure Manning in this game.

Things have been made easier for Manning as of late, as Ronnie Hillman has taken over for Montee Ball in the backfield and has rushed for at least 100 yards in 2 of his last 3 games. That has to be a major worry for the Pats, as they only rank 25th in the league in run defense and even in the blowout win over Chicago last week they gave up over 150 yards on the ground.

Brady lit up the Bears last week to the tune of 354 passing yards with 5 TD and 0 INT. Rob Gronkowski had another big game last week and he and Brandon LaFell each had over 120 receiving yards. Denver has one of the best pass rushes in the league with Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware, who have combined for 16 sacks this season.

Rookie Jonas Grey and Shane Vareen will man the New England rushing offense, but will face a Denver run defense that is the top-ranked unit in the NFL.

NFL Week 9 Betting Trends

* Denver is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games.
* New England is 5-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
* New England is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games against the Broncos.

4* Cappers NFL Free Pick

The Broncos beat the Pats last season in the title game for the AFC, but this game will be a close one. The Pats will cover the spread and I also think they will win this big conference game.
