Cincinnati Bengals vs. Indianapolis Colts Preview

On the season the Bengals are 3-2 ATS and they have an O/U record of 2-3 and the Colts are 5-1 ATS and they have an O/U record of 5-1.

This season the Colts are 2-1 at home and the Bengals are 1-1 on the road.

In their last games the Colts beat the Houston Texans 33-28 and the Bengals played to a very rare 37-37 tie with the Carolina Panthers.

The Bengals were riding high at 3-0, but they are winless since then where their defense has really struggled. Last season they were solid at both defending the pass and the run and this season so far they di not rank in the top 20 in the NFL in either of those categories.

The Bengals’ pass defense has to be worried about Andrew Luck in this game, as he leads the Indy passing offense, which is the top-ranked unit in the NFL.

Both of these AFC teams are all alone in first place in their respective divisions, but that may not be the case any longer for the loser of this game.

Luck has passed for over 310 yards in 4 straight games, all Colts wins, and in that span he has 12 TD and 4 INT. it helps that he has a great WR duo in Reggie Wayne and T.Y. Hilton, who have combined for over 1,000 yards receiving already this season.

The Bengals gave up 284 passing yards in their tie facing the Panthers, but what has to be a concern is that they did not have a sack in the game and if they cannot pressure Luck they may be in trouble.

Luck has not gotten much help at all from the rushing game this season and he may have to do it all on offense.

Still, Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw will face a Cincy run D that ranks 29th in the league.

Andy Dalton passed for over 320 yards with 2 TD in the Carolina game, but he was picked off 2 times. A.J. Green is banged up, but he still has a legit WR in Mohamed Sanu and Jermaine Gresham, who both had good games last week.

Cincy RB Giovani Bernard did rush for 137 yards last week, but 89 yards came on one play and besides that big run he struggled. Dalton cannot do it all, as when he does he makes mistakes and the Bengals will have to run the ball well in this game facing an Indy run defense that ranks 11th in the league.
