Jags vs Packers NFL Football Spread/Handicapping

Jacksonville is one of the worst teams in the league, Jacksonville without Maurice Jones Drew is likely the worst and it might not be that close.

Jacksonville

The Jags are in the basement of the AFC South and lost a tough one last week at Oakland.

They don’t get much of a chance to lick their wounds as they travel to Green Bay to face a Packers team that is hungry after a so-so start.  The injury to Jones-Drew only compounds things.

Even with MJD this is a brutal offensive team.  Blaine Gabbert is probably the worst starting quarterback in the league and they have a dearth of playmakers as their top pick has been a total bust.  Jacksonville is dead last in the league in scoring at 14ppg while their defense gives up almost double that.

No significant improvement can be expected of either unit at this point either.

The Jags are bad and this is the biggest line of the year as far as I can remember. Without MJD it is a wonder if they will even be able to punch it into the endzone at all which is why those 15.5 points don’t seem so crazy after you look at both teams carefully.

I think you have to stay away from these Cats under pretty much all situations this season.

Green Bay

The Green Bay Packers are starting to look like the team we thought they would the last couple of weeks.  After the shocking loss at Indy they smacked down the Texans on the road and followed it up with another road win against St. Louis.  It was the rare three game road trip in the NFL and now they are looking to fatten up a little bit.  This week hosting Jacksonville should be their easiest game of the season. QB Aaron Rodgers has been close to perfect the last couple of weeks with 9 TDs and no interceptions.  That is usually a good month for anybody else and it is especially impressive because he was without top receiver Greg Jennings or much of a running game.

Jennings is still out and so might be Jordy Nelson who has filled in so admirably.

Even without them the Packers should be just fine offensively.

Green Bay is finally starting to look like a championship contender but this is still a huge amount of points, especially if the offense is off a tick due to injuries.

They might just cover but I think you will find better values on the board without looking too hard.

They are really dinged up right now with Jennings out and now defensive stalwart Charles Woodson too so tread carefully.

Spread Pick: Green Bay -15.5
O/U Pick: Under
Score Prediction: Green Bay 35 – Jacksonville 9
