Give the Indianapolis Colts brass credit for ignoring the RG III hype and sticking with Andrew Luck as their guy. The Colts have been terrific this year – if the playoffs were to start today, they would qualify and head out on the road to take on… you guessed it – Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.

The Colts have been all about offense so far this season. Andrew Luck passed for 433 yards in Week 9 for his fourth game this season over the 300 yard mark. Indy gained 516 total yards against a pretty good Miami defense and was able to convert 13 of 19 third down chances – incredible!

The Colts enter Thursday night’s game with the 6th ranked passing game and the 19th ranked rushing game. The offense will get a crack at a chronically poor Jacksonville defense that will be without the majority of their starting defensive backs – OUCH!

Defensively, the Colts have been nothing special this season. But average will be good enough against Jacksonville’s miserable offense. The Colts are a respectable 11th against the pass and 25th versus the run. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The Jacksonville Jaguars are having a season to forget – their best player Maurice Jones-Drew is miles away from returning to action it appears. Nothing has gone right for this team on offense or defense prompting the owner to call out every member of this team.

The Jags offense has been awful, particularly since Maurice Jones-Drew went down with injury. They are last in scoring (just 14.63 points per game so far), they are the worst passing offense in the NFL averaging 170 yards per game and they own the league’s 28th ranked rushing offense – 84 yards per game. Ugh!

Defensively the Jags have been just as bad – 25th against the pass and 27th versus the run. Jacksonville stops nobody and the offense doesn’t do their share. Is it any wonder that this team is 1-7?

Betting Prediction:

• Indianapolis is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games
• The total has gone UNDER in 9 of Indianapolis’s last 12 games
• The total has gone OVER in 16 of Indianapolis’s last 22 games on the road
• The total has gone OVER in 8 of Indianapolis’s last 11 games when playing on the road against Jacksonville
• Jacksonville is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games when playing Indianapolis
• The total has gone OVER in 8 of Jacksonville’s last 11 games when playing at home against Indianapolis
• Jacksonville is 8-15 SU in its last 23 games when playing Indianapolis
• Jacksonville is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games at home

Jacksonville’s only win this season came against this very Indianapolis team – you don’t think the Colts want a little revenge do you? With Maurice Jones-Drew out of the lineup, Jacksonville is a much different team – the word inept comes to mind. Indianapolis looks like a seasoned, veteran standout team at present – nobody saw their rapid ascent coming. Indy is 4-1 since Coach Chuck Pagano’s leukemia announcement – his inspiration will continue to carry this team. At the end of the day, Indianapolis is a good team, Jacksonville is not!

Pick: Indianapolis Colts -3
