Week 6 St. Louis Rams vs Green Bay Packers NFL Free Pick – Odds – Handicapping Preview

The St. Louis Rams have to be hoping that the bye week cast a little magic on their team. This week, St. Louis is faced with the prospect of taking their winless record into Lambeau field to take on a Packers team that is absolutely on a role.

Rams vs. Packers Betting Lines from betonline.com
Spread: Packers -15
Moneyline: Rams +710: Packers -950
Over/Under: 48 points

I guess this could be considered a trap game for the Pack, but on talent alone, without playing the game; Green Bay is a more than worthy 15 point favorite at home.

If the Rams were playing some good football ahead of their Sunday showdown, there may be a chance that they could make this close. But poor play and injuries at key positions has the Rams looking very much like a team on the decline rather than on an incline that most, including myself, predicted before the season started. Offensively, the Rams are nowhere near where they need to be and defensively they have not proven that they can stop anybody.

St. Louis currently has the 28th ranked passing game (187 yards per game) and the 25th ranked running game (92.5 yards per game). The return of a healthy Steven Jackson should help the running game but the passing game will still be in shambles. Sam Bradford has completed only 49.7 % of his passes this season, has tossed only 3 touchdowns in four games, has one interception and has been sacked a staggering 18 times. From the Line, to the QB to the receivers, this team is not getting it done.

Defensively, the Rams have been just as bad – they are the worst run defense in the NFL allowing 179.75 yards per game and they are second last in points allowed (28.25 per game). Imagine what the Packers will do to this squad!

The Green Bay Packers are simply in a different category than most NFL teams as they showed with their impressive beat down on the Falcons in Atlanta. When this team wants to play, there is no team that can beat them. Offensively, Green Bay appears unstoppable and defensively, they are a terrorizing force. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Green Bay will score points. They have the 4th best passing game and scoring offense in the NFL. The running game is the only apparent weakness – 22nd in the NFL with 99 yards per game. The rushers will get a chance to improve upon that ranking this week against the NFL’s worst rush defense. Aaron Rodgers and his arsenal of weapons will do their share of damage as well. But now is time for the running game to show up and do their share!

Green Bay’s defense is surprisingly 30th against the pass, allowing just under 300 yards per game. This ranking can be attributed to the fact that ALL TEAMS are having to throw just to keep up. The Pack have the 3rd best run defense in the NFL allowing just 75.8 yards per game on the ground.

Betting Prediction: St. Louis is a miserable road team – 3-19 SU in their last 22 on the road and 2-6 in their last eight games at Lambeau Field. It is noteworthy as well that the Rams are 0-5 ATS in their last five games as underdog.

It all boils down to weapons in this game – the Packers are overflowing with them and the Rams have been left searching for their share. St. Louis has had an extra week to prepare for this game – something that may allow them to hang around for a while. But when Green Bay kicks it into gear there will be absolutely no stopping them. 15 points? No problem! Take the Packers in a rout!

Pick: Green Bay Packers -15
