Week 5 Seattle Seahawks vs N.Y. Giants NFL Free Pick – Odds – Handicapping Preview

The Seattle Seahawks have looked pretty good over the last couple of weeks but in Week 5 they have the daunting task of heading to New York to take on a Giants squad that is brimming with confidence and one that will get two of their Stud defenders back at full strength.

Seattle has played two decent games in a row, both at home. In Week 3, the Hawks played their best game of the season and defeated division rival Arizona and in Week 4 they almost pulled a major upset, falling 30-28 to the hyped Atlanta Falcons. Better offensive play has been the catalyst over the last couple of weeks – Tavaris Jackson finally appears comfortable in his role and Sidney Rice has looked like the team MVP in his two starts.

Seattle used the No Huddle offense very effectively last week – something that could keep opposing defenses off guard for the rest of the season. Tavaris Jackson threw for 319 yards against Atlanta and Sidney Rice, rookie Doug Baldwin and Mike Williams all contributed. Against a banged up Giants secondary, these three will have a chance to build on their success. That is if the offensive line that has given up 14 sacks shows up Sunday.

Seattle’s brutal running game (67.5 yards per game so far this season) also has a chance to get going on Sunday. They face a Giants defense that gave up 128 yards to LeSean McCoy two weeks ago and 138 yards to Beanie Wells last week. If Seattle can somehow get Marshawn Lynch, Justin Forsett and Leon Washington going, this game could be closer than most expect. But with Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora returning to the Giants D-line, it is a very big IF! [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The New York Giants have to be happy with their play so far this season. They are 3-1 and are coming off a very impressive come-from-behind win at Arizona in Week 4. Eli Manning is hot and he is limiting the mistakes that he is sadly known for. Manning has tossed six touchdowns in his last two outings and has now gone 90 passes without an interception. This after allowing 25 interceptions during the 2010-2011 season. Hakeem Nicks is a handful, Mario Manningham is due for a breakout game and Victor Cruz has been superb so far.

The Giants have been getting it done with a banged up defensive corp. A unit that has given up 22 points per game and 266 yards rushing in the last two weeks will be more than happy to have Justin Tuck and Osi Umenuiora back in the fold. The Giants defense has the honor of going up against a Seattle offense that has given up 14 sacks this season (second most in the NFL) and has rushed for only 67.5 yards per game so far.

Betting Prediction: Seattle is a bad road team, plain and simple. They have lost nine straight games while playing in the Eastern time zone and they have lost both of their road games this season by an average of 20 points.

New York is a confident bunch and is as healthy as they have been all season long. The offense is clicking and the defense surely will be better with two of their stars returning from injury. Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs should dominate this game as the Giants run up the score.

This one won’t be close folks – the Giants are too good in every aspect of the game for Seattle to make it a game. Giants cover the 10 points with ease!

Pick: New York Giants -10
