Handicapping Longshots to win the 2015 Super Bowl gambling tips

Super Bowl XLIX Futures

The NFL season is fast approaching, and bettors have little time remaining to get their futures bets in. That doesn’t mean it’s too late to mine for value though.

Here’s a look at six longshots to win the 2015 Super Bowl, three from the AFC and three from the NFC, that are worthy of a closer look.

2015 Super Bowl Odds: Chicago Bears +2800

The Bears uncharacteristically had one of the top offenses in football last season. They also uncharacteristically had a below average defense. The team’s offense remains intact, while the front office added some bullets on the other side of the ball.

The NFC North is there for the taking, and if the Bears can earn some home playoff games in January, they’ll be a tough out.

2015 Super Bowl Odds: Cincinnati Bengals +3000

The Bengals have consistently gotten to the playoffs in the Andy Dalton-era, but they haven’t done much once they get there. The team’s defense excelled last season, and the team has shown an ability to dominate on their home field.

With Hue Jackson reining in Dalton somewhat with a more quarterback-friendly offensive scheme that will put more of an emphasis on the ground game, this could be the year the Bengals break through.

2015 Super Bowl Odds: Houston Texans +5000

A 2-0 start to the season was quickly forgotten when the Texans reeled off 14 consecutive losses. There’s been plenty of change in Houston since Week 17 of last season, but many of the key faces that helped the team to back-to-back AFC South crowns are still around. All those losses also earned the team the top pick in the draft and a special player in Jadeveon Clowney.

2015 Super Bowl Odds: Washington Redskins +5000

Former Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan did all he could to protect Robert Griffin III in his time in Washington, forcing the former Baylor star to run a college-style offense which limited his productivity. Now, the team switches to Jay Gruden at head coach.

Gruden’s offense did wonders for Andy Dalton a year ago, and he now enters a situation with Griffin at the helm and a slew of talented skill position players around him in an offense that could be special.

2015 Super Bowl Odds: Tampa Bay Buccaneers +6600

The Buccaneers were a popular dark horse pick a year ago, entering the season with a number of additions to their defense which had the team looking like they were ready for a postseason run.

Instead, it was the Carolina Panthers who broke out of the NFC South, while the Buccaneers were a mess, leading to Greg Schiano’s firing. Now, with Lovie Smith calling the shots, a talented group could finally figure it out

2015 Super Bowl Odds: New York Jets +7000

The Jet defense has been just fine for as long as Rex Ryan has been in town, and the team has now given him some offensive weapons to play with.

Chris Johnson and Eric Decker may not put up the kinds of numbers we’re used to seeing from them, but any kind of offensive production, coupled with Ryan’s typically stingy defense, could put the Jets over the top.
