Two teams that were supposed to be rather weak this year square off on Sunday afternoon. Somebody forgot to tell the Chiefs that they were supposed to be weak however. It’s OK, the Jags are bad enough for the two of them!

It is mind boggling that the Jacksonville Jaguars went into their Monday night showdown in first place, above .500. They are a team that has had glaring weaknesses for years now but inexplicably, they have done absolutely nothing to rectify them. David Gerrard is still the quarterback and the defense still cannot stop anyone.

Jacksonville enters Week 7 with one of the worst passing games in the NFL – just 164 yards per game. That’s what no quarterback and no reliable receivers will do to a passing attack. The way to beat the Chiefs is through the air but unfortunately the Jags don’t have the personnel to do so.

Jacksonville still boasts one of the immense talents but because of the struggles of the rest of the team, Maurice Jones-Drew has yet to get in any sort of groove this season. He will need to be huge if Jacksonville has any chance on Sunday. Unfortunately for Jones-Drew, he will be facing a Romeo Crennel defense that has been great against the run this season.

Defensively, pick your poison. The Jags have been generous versus the pass and the run this season. Because of the offensive ineptitude, they Jags defense is on the field a ton and has really gotten no support.

How ‘bout dem Kansas City Chiefs! Sure they have lost two straight games but losses to Indianapolis and Houston (they should have won that game) is nothing to hang your head about. Better days are ahead in the form of Jacksonville this week, followed by Buffalo and Oakland!

Matt Cassel finally showed signs of life last week – rejoice Chiefs fans, he can throw the ball! There was even a Dwayne Bowe sighting. With the running back duo of Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones averaging over 75 yards each apiece, defenses are having to focus on them and are largely ignoring the pass.

The end result is a balanced offense. Offensive Coordinator Charlie Weiss has to be commended on the job that he has done. The Chiefs statistically are not quite elite, but they are damn good.

Another new coordinator that has made a huge difference in Kansas City is Romeo Crennel. While his squad is not quite elite, they are unpredictable and certainly a nightmare to play against.

Betting Outlook:

Jacksonville is 3-7 S/U in their last 10 games and a miserable 5-13 ATS in their last 18 overall. They are 1-4 S/U and ATS in their last five games on the road but are 4-1 S/U in their last five games against the Chiefs.

Kansas City is 7-18 S/U overall in their last 25 but is 4-2 S/U in their last six. Surprisingly, KC is just 4-19 S/U and 7-16 ATS in their last 23 games at home.

Jacksonville may have hit rock bottom on Monday night in front of what seemed like 65 of their most loyal fans. But things don’t get much easier this week. The Chiefs are a very similar team to the Tennessee team that dismantled the in Week 6. The Chiefs should be able to run all day and be able to sprinkle in the occasional pass to keep the Jags off balance. This one is no contest.

Betting Pick: Kansas City Chiefs
