The Indianapolis Colts have shaken an early season disappointment and look again like a team that will contend for the NFL Championship. On Sunday, the Colts travel to Jacksonville to play a Jaguars team that has played them tough in recent meetings. In fact the last five games between the two teams have been decided by a touchdown or less. 
The Indianapolis Colts offense is its typical potent self again this season. Peyton Manning has amassed 1013 yards, nine touchdowns and zero interceptions and new toy receiver Austin Collie is near the top of the league with 27 receptions, 359 yards and four touchdowns. Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne continue to be an absolute nightmare to cover and the running game actually showed signs of life in one of the three games played so far.
It will likely be the Colts passing game on display on Sunday against the Jags 29th ranked passing offense however. The running game fell back to earth last week and followed up a 160 yard game with just 40 yards on 22 carries.
Surprisingly, it was the Colts pass defense that was torched in Week 3. Kyle Orton reeled off 476 yards while the previously porous run defense held the Broncos in check. It will be the run defense that is severely tested on Sunday – Maurice Jones-Drew is looking to break out of his season long slump against a team that he had traditionally done well against.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are a total mess right now. They have lost two straight games by 25 points and the offense is only scoring an average of 13.3 points per game. The running game is an uncharacteristic 17th ranked in the NFL and a banged up Maurice Jones-Drew has yet to find pay dirt this season. He is averaging a measly 3.8 yards per carry. Get the picture?
Other problems with the Jags include the leaky offensive line that has led to 10 sacks against. It has led to five interceptions – not a good omen with the likes of Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney on the horizon.
Colts/Jaguars Prediction:
The Indianapolis Colts are 9-1 in their last 10 games within their division, are 8-2 in October, 7-1 ATS on the road and 5-1 S/U in their last six meetings with Jacksonville.
The Jaguars re 4-6 in their last 10 games within their division, are 6-4 in the month of October, 10-25 ATS in their last 25 games and are 4-14 ATS in their last 18 games at home. However, Jacksonville is 2-2 ATS in their last four against Indianapolis.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have no real chance in this game. They can’t protect the ball and they can’t protect their quarterback. They can’t score points and can’t stop anyone from scoring points on them. The Jaguars might hang around for a while in this game but the Colts will eventually pull away and easily cover.
