Many NFL bettors, especially in the state of Texas have this game circled on their calendar. Make no mistake about it, this game is crucial for one of the Texas teams but nobody in their right mind would have thought that it would be the Cowboys looking for their first win.

The Dallas Cowboys have been moving the ball and their defense hasn’t been all that bad. It has been a bit of bad luck, a bit of poor play calling and a bit of a lack of execution that have put Dallas in a 0-2 hole.

Panic has set in and the Cowboys need something good to happen fast or their playoff aspirations could go down the tube.

Dallas has the second ranked passing game in the NFL but sadly has the 28th ranked rushing attack in the league. The vaunted trio of Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice were only able to generate 36 yards on the ground against Chicago last week. The running game is stuck in the mud but figures to improve as the offensive line gets healthy.

Despite the second ranked passing game, the Cowboys have only managed two, count them, two offensive touchdowns so far this season. Brutal numbers that have to get better.
Houston on the other hand is finding ways to win ball games. In Week 1, they rumbled for over 250 yards on the ground and in Week 2 they used nearly 500 yards passing to come from behind and defeat the Washington Redskins.

Offensively, Houston has the league`s top rusher (Arian Foster – 300 yards), one on the top receivers (Andre Johnson) and the always dangerous Matt Schaub. They are tough to handle as demonstrated in their games against two decent defences in Indianapolis and Washington.

Defensively, the Texans have been getting torched through the air. Tony Romo should find some success but needs to convert – something that he`s been unable to do so far. The Houston defense just needs to play a bend, not break style – their offense will spot them 35 points week in and week out.

Prediction:

The Texans have been lucky so far this season and the Cowboys have been unlucky. The injury report this week shows that the Cowboys luck won`t change soon. Jason Whitten and corner back Mike Jenkins are both questionable for Sunday`s game – they are two huge pieces of the Dallas team.

Dallas will score more this week against Houston`s 31st ranked defense but I can`t see them scoring the 30+points necessary to beat the young, strong and confident Texans.

Pick: Houston Texans -3
