Jets 2012-2013 NFL Futures Lines & Predictions

You gotta give the New York Jets one thing…they are never boring.  The jury is out on whether this team is better or worse  heading into 2012, but with the addition of Tim Tebow, now the most famous backup quarterback in league history, the Jets certainly grabbed some headlines away from their stadiummates the Giants.

New York Jets Team Preview /Predictions
2011 Record:  8-8
2011 ATS Record:  6-9-1
2012 Futures:
Super Bowl: +2800
Conference: +1150
Division: +650
Win Total: 8.5

Hopefully that is all the news this summer as there are hints CB Darelle Revis might hold out.

I do believe there is a place for Tebow in the NFL but I think it is an  interesting strategy for New York to pin the hopes of improving their offense on him.

Their receivers as a whole are average and their running backs don’t inspire much confidence.  For this offense to be a real threat they need draft pick receiver Stephen Hill, a physical freak to be a factor.

Can he be the next Georgia Tech NFL receiver sensation?

On defense they just have to make more big plays.  The guys at the back end are great and now they have a real thumper at safety with the addition of Laron Landry.  [soliloquy id=”82219″]

But if the guys up front can’t create create some havoc, this team is not strong enough to compete.  Last year no one on the team had more than 6 sacks and I am not convinced the addition of a rookie end is going to be a cure-all.  Rex Ryan may have to get a little crazy out there.

He is doing it on offense so why not defense.

The Jets were the rare team that had only winning and losing streaks throughout last season – never losing just once or winning just once.  As alluded up top it is going to come down to the rush defense for Gang Green.

9 times they gave up 100 or more yards on ground  – their record in those games:  3-6 SU and ATS.

There is not enough firepower for them to play catchup when they are getting pounded on the ground.

Prediction:  8-8
Conference:  9
Division:  3
Win Total:  Under
