The Vikings’ (1-6) season just keeps getting worse, and with only one win in seven games, this is a team that has nothing left to play for other than pride at this point in the season. That makes them dangerous to even the best team if they are complacent.

Despite all its offensive uncertainty at quarterback, the Minnesota rushing attack stepped it up in the team’s 44-31 loss to the Packers last time out.

And although running back Adrian Peterson is averaging only 50 rushing yards in the last three games, Toby Gerhart had rushing scores for the Vikings, while quarterback Christian Ponder also rushed for a touchdown.

Peterson, who had 60 rushing yards versus Green Bay, scored on an eight-yard run with four seconds left in the first half.

Nevertheless, the Vikings demise was its defense, which gave up 464 yards to the Packers, while the Minnesota offense snapped off just 43 plays for 243 yards overall. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Ponder drew the start because recently acquired quarteback Josh Freeman was out with a concussion, but it’s uncertain if he will get the call against the Cowboys.

Meanwhile, Dallas (4-4) was shelled last time out, surrendering an eye-popping 623 total yards at Detroit last week, with the last 80 coming in the final 50 seconds to give the Lions a 31-30 victory.

The Dallas defense is nearly as poor as Minnesota’s, with its prevent scheme surrendering an average of 423 yards per game.

Offensively, Cowboy’s quarterback Tony Romo is enjoying a solid season, but is not getting much help from the running game, with DeMarco Murray sitting out the past two games with an injury after being limited to 14 carries or less in the previous three.

Romo completed 14-of-30 passes for 206 yards and three scores in the loss to the Lions, while wide receiver Dez Bryant caught a pair of touchdown passes. Romo had under 100 yards passing over the first three quarters.

Matt’s Free Prediction

The Cowboys probably have nothing to worry about in this one, unless the Vikings miraculously find a way to jump start their rushing attack.

A two-score spread seems reasonable here.

Cowboys 35, Vikings 21
