New York was embarrassed its last time out, losing to the Carolina Panthers 38-0.

Eli Manning, who was sacked seven times, tossed a league-high eight interceptions in the loss that dropped the Giants to 0-3.

And the defense is not much better, ranking No. 32 in the league at 38.33 PPG.

They will be no match against a Kansas City offense that ranks No. 12 (23.67 PPG) and is led by the duo of quarterback Alex Smith and running back Jamaal Charles, who’s racked up a team-leading 224 yards rushing and 151 receiving so far this campaign.

But when you look at this year’s Chiefs, it’s not just the offense that can be credited with the turnaround. You have to stop and take notice of the defense, who after stopping Dallas in Week 2, played a big part in helping coach Andy Reid stick it to his former team, as KC cruised to a convincing 26-16 victory over Philadelphia on Thursday.

The Chiefs also got a huge left from Donnie Avery, who turned in an impressive 141-yard receiving performance at Lincoln Financial Field. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The last time the two teams met, the Giants posted a 27-16 victory over the Chiefs in 2009 for their fourth straight win in the series, but this year doesn’t look favorable for the G-men who will have to play at one of the NFL’s toughest venues.

New York leads the league with 13 turnovers, Manning has struggled and the passing game has suffered. Add in the fact that the running game has all but totally disappeared, and the Giants just look awful.

Matt’s Free Prediction

Kansas City is a team on the rise and bringing in Alex Smith was a huge upgrade.

Charles remains one of the game’s best running backs and he should have success against a Giants team who has not been able to do much defensively.

Add  in that the Chiefs are undefeated and playing at home with a couple extra days’ rest, and this is theirs to lose.

Nevertheless, I think this game is closer than people think as New York is playing for their lives, but in the end, this one goes to KC as Charles rips through the Giants defense on his way to a record-breaking day.

Chiefs 35, Giants 17.
