Chicago has won nine of the past 10 meetings between the two foes and will look to notch the first under the direction of new head coach Marc Trestman.

The Bears, who are averaging and impressive 32 points per game in their first three matchups of the 2013 season, could take a two-game lead in the division if they can jump out to an early 4-0 record with a win in Detroit.

They are  entering the game with a ton of momentum after their 40-23 rout of the Steelers, which was primarily led by an opportunistic defense, which forced five turnovers and scored two defensive touchdowns.

Offensively, the Bears have been less impressive, and gained just 258 yards against the Steelers.

But quarterback Jay Cutler, who is 7-1 against the Lions since joining Chicago in 2009, throwing 12 TDs and just one interception in that span, will look to turn things around on Sunday. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Meanwhile, the Lions will look to build some impetus after its 27-20 win at Washington last weekend.

But it won’t be easy as Detroit will be without wide receiver Nate Burleson, who led the squad with 116 receiving yards against the Redskins before breaking his left arm in two places in a car accident on Tuesday.

The Lions may however, get back star wide receiver Calvin Johnson who has missed practice time with a knee injury.

In the meantime, the running game, which has ranked a dismnal 26th in the league ,may also get a lift, as running back Reggie Bush told the media that he expects to be ready to play against Chicago after missing Week 3 with a sprained left knee. However, no official word has been released.

Matt’s Free Prediction

Detroit is a slim favorite here, but I like the Bears in this one.

The Lions will miss Burleson more than people think, and should Bush and Johnson not make into Sunday’s line up, it could be a long day for the Lions.  Even so, they are coming off injuries that will limit their abilities, even if just a little.

That should be just enough for Chicago, who has won six of its last eight road games dating to 2012, to make it nine.

Bears 28, Lions 21.
