Jacksonville (1-9) sits at the bottom of the AFC South and has the worst record in the league after notching there one win this season, two weeks ago against the 4-6 Tennessee Titans.

The Jags followed up by finally scoring their first two home touchdowns of the season in last Sunday’s loss to Arizona, and are dead last in the NFL in scoring (12.9) and total offense (278 yards per game).

Quarterback Chad Henne, again, isn’t getting it done, as he has completed only 61 percent of his passes with just four touchdowns and nine interceptions.

The running game has suffered mightily too, as Maurice Jones-Drew is a bust. Jones has just 455 rushing yards on the year, and posted  a season-worst 23 rushing yards against Arizona, marking the seventh time this season he has rushed for 45 or fewer yards.

The highlight of Jacksonville’s dismal year has been its defense, which held the Cardinals to 14 rushing yards. Still, as a unit they are allowing nearly 32 points and 400 yards per game. They will however get somewhat of a boost, as they return leading tackler Paul Posluszny who missed the Arizona game due to a concussion

Meanwhile, Houston was gearing up for a Super Bowl run storming out of the gate with back-to-back victories to start the 2013 season.

Then disaster struck, as quarterback Matt Schaub began to implode, forcing his removal in favor of second-year pro Case Keenum who will again draw the start despite being pulled during last Sunday’s loss to Oakland.

The loss to the Raiders extended the Texans losing streak to eight.

Off the field its hasn’t been any better, as Houston’s troubles have included coach Gary Kubiak having an in-game mini-stroke, safety Ed Reed being released and star wideout Andre Johnson getting into a scrum with Schaub on the sideline during the loss to the Raiders.

The Texans have failed to take advantage of opportunities and they have turned the ball over a lot, averaging just 19 points and 378 yards per game.

They have scored just two rushing touchdowns all season, second worst in the league.

Like the Jags, Houston draws its strength from the opposite side of the ball, and is led by defensive end J.J. Watt who heads the league’s top defense (286.1 yards per game).

Matt’s Free Prediction

The Jaguars are a complete disaster, but Henne did have some success against the Texans last season, passing for 354 yards and four touchdowns.

However it was Houston’s only loss to Jacksonville in six meetings, as they took the second, making it five in a row, including a 43-37 overtime home victory when Schaub passed for 527 yards and five touchdowns.

The line on this one seems too high for a Texans’ team that has struggled to gather points and have only found success against the Jags with Schaub under center.

Since he will not be calling the shots on Sunday, I’m taking the Jags here.

Jaguars 20, Texans 17
