With wins over Seattle, San Francisco, and now Denver, the Rams get ready to take on another good opponent in the San Diego Chargers.

St. Louis

For the first time this season, Denver QB Peyton Manning looked confused and flustered last week. The St. Louis Rams sacked Manning twice and intercepted him two times in their 22-7 win over the Broncos.

St. Louis will look to build off that performance and cause problems for Chargers QB Phillip Rivers.

The Rams elected to go with QB Shaun Hill last week and he provided a boost offensively for St. Louis. Hill threw for 220 yards and touchdown and played turnover free football for the Rams. It was the first time since week 7 that the Rams did not have a turnover.

Look for Hill to target WR Kenny Britt who became the Rams first receiver to reach over 100 yards this season last week. Hill and Britt hooked up for a 63 yard touchdown pass in the victory.

San Diego

The Chargers put an end to their three game losing streak last week with their 13-6 victory over Oakland. In less than stellar fashion, Rivers threw for a touchdown on the third play of the game and the Chargers defense held on from there.

Talks in the locker room after the game speculated that Rivers was playing through multiple injuries.

Chargers head coach Mike McCoy was quick to dismiss those rumors saying Rivers will be under center on Sunday.

While things have been a struggle lately for the Chargers, they sit just one game behind first place Denver.

That is thanks in large part to their defense. They allow 222.4 pass yards per game (6th) and just 109.0 rush yards per game (12th).

This game will come down to the battle of the St. Louis defense vs. the Chargers offensive line. The Rams have accumulated 18 sacks since week 7 with 6 of those coming from DE Robert Quinn.

Especially with rumors of Rivers battling through injuries, keeping him from getting knocked around will be vital here.

NFL Football Handicapping Trends:

  • Rams are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in November.
  • Rams are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road games.
  • Chargers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win.
  • Chargers are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game.

San Diego has lost 6 out of 10 vs the Rams all time. Last time these two teams met, Rivers was sacked seven times in a 20-17 win for the Rams. If that is again the case on Sunday, Rivers health could be in serious question.

Neither team really has the explosive factor when it comes to offense.

San Diego 17, St. Louis 10

Look for both the Rams and Chargers to establish the ground game with a lot of short passes and screen passes.
