The Rams will look to play spoiler and knock the Arizona Cardinals into a first place tie in the division.

Arizona

While things have been less than stellar for the Arizona Cardinals on offense with Drew Stanton under center, they still find themselves in 1st place in the NFC West. With all 3 of their final games against division foes, the Cardinals will need Stanton to find some sort of rhythm starting this week in St. Louis.

QB Drew Stanton does have something to build off of as he went for 239 yards last week with one touchdown in a 17-14 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Stanton found WR Jaron Brown for a 26 yard game winning touchdown pass with just 3 minutes left in the game.

With RB Andre Ellington sidelined for the remainder of the season, the Cardinals hope that their new starting RB Kerwynn Williams can duplicate his 100 yard performance from last week. The Cardinals rushing attack has been an absolute struggle this season ranking 30th in the NFL with just 79.8 rush yards per game.

On the road this season, Arizona is 3-3 S.U. and 3-3 ATS. The Cardinals have dropped their last two road games with Stanton as starting QB.

St. Louis

While the Rams sit in last place in the NFC West, they still have nothing to be ashamed of. In arguably one of the best divisions in football, the Rams have put up consecutive shutouts while scoring a combined 76 points on offense. While the offense has shined, the defense has forced 7 turnovers over the last two shut outs.

Rams QB Shaun Hill has continued to impress his coaching staff with his play over the last four games. Hill has thrown for 6 touchdowns in that span and has recorded a 3-1 record including a victory over Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.

While the Rams offensive rankings can be a bit misleading due to Shaun Hill going down with an injury, the defense has been consistent throughout the entire season. The Rams rank 10th in the NFL in total rush yards allowed with 104.8 per game. With the past two shutouts, the Rams have seen their average points allowed per game drop to just 21.9.

In St. Louis this season the Rams are 3-3 S.U. They’ve averaged 26.0 points per game inside the Edward Jones Dome which has led to 4 of the 6 contests going over the total.

NFL Football Handicapping Trends:

  • Cardinals are 12-2 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
  • Cardinals are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall.
  • Rams are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
  • Rams are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. NFC West.
  • Under is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings.

Free 4* NFL Football Pick: Arizona +4.5

While the Rams have proven they can compete with just about any team in the NFL, Arizona knows they can control their own fate in the NFC West.

Arizona 20, St. Louis 17

Cardinals QB Drew Stanton will build off his decent game last week and do just enough to come out of St. Louis with a victory.
