The Browns went from so high (after beating Cincinnati on the road) to so low (losing at home to Houston).

We shouldn’t be surprised though given that we are talking about Cleveland, right?

The Browns are still in the mix in the AFC North but the margins are very slim in their division so another performance or two like last week will be the end of them.

This week there is some juice with Josh Gordon getting back on the field. Maybe that can inspire the team down the stretch, he was the league leading receiver last season.

There is no reason to get Gordon on the field and not use him which should be good news for a running game that was lame last week against Houston.

In the loss Hoyer threw the ball 50 times and he is not built for that kind of volume. He needs to pick his spots and try and make a few big plays.

The Browns defense is much better against the pass than the run this season and that is a good split when playing Atlanta.

The Falcons have to be counting their lucky stars.

They have certainly not rebounded greatly from last year but their pitiful division has them tied for the lead with New Orleans with just 6 games to go. Atlanta has a tough close to this season with this being their best chance for a victory.

If they can get it they can continue to keep the pressure on the Saints but I wouldn’t hold out too much hope Falcons fans.

You are only 4-6 to this point and finishing without another victory is a distinct possibility.

The offense of the Falcons is definitely missing Tony Gonzalez this season.

Sure Matty Ice can still sling it around the yard and it is nice to have a healthy Julio Jones but they are missing that threat. Roddy White appears like he is slowing down a bit this season.

He has never been a burner but his numbers are way down this season and that seems like the best explanation.

Strength against strength in the passing game this week. It will determine who wins.

NFL Handicapping Trends:

  • Under is 4-0 in Browns last 4 games following a ATS loss.
  • Under is 4-0 in Browns last 4 games following a SU loss of more than 14 points.
  • Browns are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a double-digit loss at home.
  • Under is 4-0 in Falcons last 4 games following a ATS loss.
  • Under is 4-0 in Falcons last 4 games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
  • Under is 5-0 in Falcons last 5 games in Week 12.

NFL Prediction:  Cleveland +3

I am surprised to write that I am looking for the Browns to bounce back this week.

NFL Score prediction:  Cleveland 24 – Atlanta 21

Tough game and they rise to the occasion.  Covering too.
