Denver Broncos vs. New England Patriots Free Gambling Prediction & Week 5 Preview

Broncos vs Patriots NFL Football Spread/Handicapping

The Broncos sent a message by throttling Oakland last week.  How much that message takes will depend on how they perform against New England.  In the second half last week Denver showed just how good this team can be.

Denver

With Peyton Manning looking like the Peyton of old and the running game strong this team can be a threat.  The defense wasn’t too shabby either.  Still this team is just 2-2 and a game back in the AFC West at the moment.

Any game where Manning completes better than 75% of his passes Denver is going to be tough to beat.  Equally important, he was able to break off some big gains to keep the defense honest.

As a result, Willis McGahee had his best game of the year with 112 yards on the ground.  The defense didn’t have to do much more than keep the plays in front of them.

Oakland isn’t nearly the threat that New England will be.

Another Manning vs Brady duel so you know this game is going to get a lot of attention.

I was surprised the number is so large as the Pats don’t exactly have the strongest home field advantage and you know Peyton won’t be intimidated by the surroundings.  The last time these two teams met the Patriots hammered the Broncos in the playoffs last year.

Other than Manning most of these guys were on that team and should be hungry for revenge.

New England

The Patriots put up a whopping 52 points against Buffalo last week, covering easily. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Just don’t forget that the game was tied at the end of the third quarter.  For those who backed the Pats I am sure you were laughing all the way to the bank but the final results was equal part Pats dominance and the Bills completely falling apart.

Denver, led by Manning, is unlikely to have a similar type of performance.

The last thing you want to do is give the Pats offense more opportunities.  The Bills gave them plenty so even without dangerous TE Aaron Hernandez in the lineup Brady still went for more than 300 yards.  And in a rare display of rushing proficiency the Pats had two 100 yard rushers in Stevan Ridley and rookie Brandon Bolden.

When this offense has balance it is a very scary proposition for the defense.

Only three points separate the Pats form perfection.  Instead they are just 2-2 and like the Broncos need a win to keep pace with AFC leaders.  Brady is looking sharp and if they actually do have a running game lookout.

It is hard to see them losing this one at home but I think it will be closer than expected.
