Denver Broncos Super Bowl XLIX Betting Lines & 2014 NFL Preview

2014 Denver Predictions

The Denver Broncos came one win away from the Vince Lombardi trophy. Their high-powered offense was held in check, but that was not the sole point of their emphasis of improvement this offseason.

Denver Broncos 2013-2014 record- 13-3
ATS 10-5-1 O/U 11-5
Bronco’s odds to win the AFC West Division: -300
Bronco’s odds to win the AFC Conference- 9/4
Bronco’s odds to win the 2015 Super Bowl- 13/2

Let’s take a look at the numbers

Denver added DE Demarcus Ware, CB Aqib Talib and WR Emmanuel Sanders, all while losing RB Knowshon Moreno, CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and WR Eric Decker.

As with any team that has Peyton Manning, the expectations are incredibly high.

It is either Super Bowl or bust for the defending AFC champs.

The Broncos focus this offseason was to shore up the defense that ranked 22nd in points allowed at 24.9 points a game. The key additions of Ware and Talib are to tighten that defense and apply pressure to opposing quarterbacks.

Last year, the Broncos allowed the 27th most passing yards a game at 254.4 yards a game. The extra focus on the defensive side of the ball will give Denver the balance they need for their high scoring offensive attack to continue putting up points with extra possessions.

Add in the already stout defensive front of Von Miller and Terrance “Pot Roast” Knighton, and this defense will be all in for a championship with a very talented roster.

On the other side of the ball, the Broncos went out and got the deep threat in Emmanuel Sanders to replace the departure of Decker. Sanders, coming over from Pittsburgh, will give the Broncos balance opposite of Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker and Julius Thomas.

But can fans really expect Denver to be as dominant on the offensive side of the ball as last season?

Will Montee Ball be ready to carry the load?

Last season the Broncos were 15th in the league with 117.1 rushing yards a game and a majority of that damage was done by the departing Moreno. Out of run-heavy Wisconsin, Ball will have his shot to take his NCAA collegiate records and showcase them for the most explosive offense in the NFL.

Denver Broncos Betting Outlook:

Last season, the Broncos were a very impressive 10-5-1 ATS being a favorite in every game except one.

I think fans can expect Dever to again be favored in nearly every game this season as they are the overall favorite to win the Super Bowl.

Equally as impressive was the Broncos 11-5 Over/Under record. Not only were they the league leader at 37.9 points, but they were 22nd worst at allowing 24.9.

We can expect their games to be high scoring as Manning and the offense will do their part to gain extra possessions and lean on that passing attack.

However, the window for Manning may be closing, but I still expect a very competitive season and a 12-4 record as well as the #1 seed in the AFC.
