Before getting into NFL Week 1 betting, Dallas and Minnesota, two of the highest-rated teams in the NFC, square off at the Metrodome on Friday night.

Cowboys vs Vikings odds – Friday, September 4, 8:00 PM ET

The Cowboys gave up 10 points in the last 3:55 of a 20-13 loss to San Francisco at home, and they made a bunch of mistakes that they must sort out before the regular season. Dallas committed a pair of turnovers along with eight penalties, and the late lapse of concentration on defense may not been soothing for online betting players who are siding with the Cowboys. However, the quarterbacks looked good, as Tony Romo was 11-of-17 for 125 yards, although he did throw a pick, while Jon Kitna went 10-of-19 for 127 yards for the Cowboys. Kitna is an excellent insurance policy if Romo gets hurt, and he’s well aware of his role.

Brett Favre was 13-of-18 for 142 yards and a touchdown in a 17-10 win over Houston on the road, and the 39-year-old didn’t look like someone who doesn’t like preseason action, as he was out there throwing blocks on running plays, and scrambling around the pocket like the Favre of old. Adrian Peterson ran 11 times for 117 yards and a score for the Vikings, and this needs to be the Minnesota formula: Peterson, Peterson, Favre, repeat. If Favre can stay within the system, the Vikings could be the NFC favorites to reach the Super Bowl. If not, you may have to come up with a new betting system to wager on his swashbuckling interceptions.

The Vikings are 3-point favorites at home according to betting services, and while Romo probably won’t see much action to avoid injury, you can bet on Favre getting some extra reps. He needs all the help he can get, even though he looked really good in Houston. Practice is one thing, but you can’t simulate game action, and he still needs to get used to the system. It also doesn’t hurt that he has the best running back he’s ever played with in the backfield with him.

It will be hard to judge this game on players like Tony Romo or Brett Favre as they will see one or two series at the most. This game will test the depth of talent on these two teams which favors the Vikings. Based on that they are my pick
