The Cincinnati Bengals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off of two vastly different Week 1 preseason showings. The Buccaneers struggled to keep things close in a 26-16 loss against the Minnesota Vikings, while the Bengals took down the Giants, 23-10.

The difference for each squad this time around will be home-field advantage. The Buccaneers struggled on the road last week, while the Bengals looked good at home.

We’ll see if the script isn’t flipped with Cincy playing its first road game against a team looking to bounce back in Tampa.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals looked good last week against the Giants. Quarterback Andy Dalton led the opening drive down field for a touchdown, and they never trailed the entire contest.

In total, the team found a nice balance between the air attack and the ground game. Cincinnati accumulated 225 yards rushing, while tossing for an additional 207.

Against Tampa Bay, expect to see much of the same. Don’t be shocked if Dalton comes out and leads this squad to an early score, but don’t be shocked, either, when he’s taken out of the contest early.

It was Josh Johnson who took a majority of the snaps last week (11-of-21, 175 YRDS, 0 TD, 0 INT), and it will likely be him again who leads the offense most of the way.

Tampa Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers did not look good last week versus the Minnesota Vikings. The team played three quarterbacks, yet the squad went just 20-of-39 in the passing game for 229 yards, no scores and an interception.

Defensively, the Bucs managed to give up 26 points on 388 total yards to a team without its best player. That’s hardly a recipe for success, meaning this group needs to find more production on both sides of the ball in order to gain some momentum before the regular season.

Against Cincinnati, success will start and end with Jameis Winston. In fact, that’s going to be a major theme throughout this entire year. Last week, he attempted 19 passes, going 9-of-19 for 131 yards, no touchdowns and an interception.

He was also sacked twice, which statistically proves what we already know, which is that this offensive line needs to do a better job protecting its newest franchise fixture.

NFL Betting Trends

  • Bengals are 1-0 ATS during 2015 preseason
  • Buccaneers are 0-1 ATS during 2015 preseason

4* NFL Betting Prediction: Bengals +1

Barring a sudden shift where the Buccaneers are betting on both sides of the ball, this one should go to the underdog Bengals. Jameis Winston should look a bit better than he did last week now that he’s finally taken a few real NFL hits, but Cincinnati’s offense shouldn’t struggle much to make it down field against the Tampa Bay defense.

NFL Score Prediction: Cincinnati 27 – Tampa Bay 13
