Week 4 will determine a lot about both teams – both badly need a win on Sunday!

The Cincinnati Bengals have obviously thrown out the tape of their Week 1 game against Baltimore. Since that loss the Bengals have scored an average of 36 points in two wins and Andy Dalton has passed for over 300 yards in both. They look like a team on the rise offensively with their two young Studs delivering – namely Dalton and AJ Green. Cinci possesses the 4th ranked passing offense and Benjarvus Green-Ellis has provided adequate rushing.

On defense the Bengals have been nothing spectacular- surprising considering the expectations going into the season. They just gave up 381 yards to the Redskins and are 31st against the run and 22nd versus the pass. Their job is to minimize the damage and let the offense do the rest.

The Jacksonville Jaguars looked decent last week in defeating the Colts after losses to Houston and Minnesota to start the season. Last week it was all about the big play – a 59 yards run by Maurice Jones-Drew and a 80 yard Cecil Shorts TD catch accounted for 14 of 22 of their points and 139 of their 313 yards in the game. Translation – they still didn’t look great even though they beat the Colts! Through three weeks Jacksonville has the 31st ranked passing game and the 10th best running game while possessing the 29th ranked scoring offense. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The Jacksonville defense hasn’t been doing much to keep their teams in games either. They are 30th against the run and 21st versus the pass. Everybody has lit them up this year – expect the same for this Sunday.

Betting Prediction:

A few trends to consider:

  •  The total has gone OVER in 5 of Cincinnati’s last 5 games
  •  The total has gone OVER in 8 of Cincinnati’s last 11 games on the road
  •  Cincinnati is 2-3-1 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Jacksonville
  •  Cincinnati is 7-16 SU in its last 23 games on the road
  •  Jacksonville is 7-1 SU in its last 8 games when playing at home against Cincinnati
  •  Jacksonville is 9-3 SU in its last 12 games when playing Cincinnati
  •  The total has gone UNDER in 7 of Jacksonville’s last 10 games at home
  •  The total has gone UNDER in 13 of Jacksonville’s last 19 games

This game is maybe the easiest of the weekend. Sure the Bengals have a weak run defense but they should still roll. Since the Baltimore game, nobody has been able to stop their offense. Jacksonville is at least two tiers below the Bengals at this point – the 1 point is a gift!

Pick: Cincinnati Bengals -1
