Carolina Panthers vs. Washington Redskins Free Gambling Prediction & Week 9 Preview

Panthers vs Redskins NFL Football Spread/Handicapping

Carolina nearly pulled off a great victory against Chicago last weekend,,,choking it away in the second half. Still it was another step in the right direction. The Panthers have lost 5 in a row but the last 4 have been by a combined 12 points.

Carolina

That includes two road losses against the Bears and the Falcons, the teams with the two best records in the NFC.  This team may not be as bad as their record shows.

QB Cam Newton just doesn’t have the same magic this year as last.  Last week he threw two interceptions and this team just has no margin for error.  The running game used to be a three headed monster with running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart plus Newton but this year Newton is leading the club in rushing and that is not a good formula for NFL success.  Receiver Steve Smith is still making big plays though and is a treat to watch.

The Panthers have been coming so close so it is hard to count them out especially if Newton is motivated by squaring off against RGIII.  Even though the three point margin is slim when you see that number it is usually best to go with the team you think is going to win the game.  It is hard to predict a 23-22 final like the Panthers had last week. Washington

Speaking of losing the magic rookie QB Robert Griffin seems to be definitely coming back to earth…it was just a matter of time I suppose.  The Redskins have lost their last two games on the road and will be looking to get well with a home date against Carolina even though they have been a better bet as visitors.  Washington needs this one if they want to have any chance of getting back into the playoff race.

In the last 4 games Griffin has only topped 200 yards once.  It is no surprise that the Redskins are just 1-3 in those contests but what is a complete surprise is how well rookie running back Alfred Morris is playing.  Coming out of Florida Atlantic he is not only the most productive rookie back in the league he is third in rushing yards, almost doubling highly touted Browns rookie Trent Richardson.  All this is keeping some pressure off Griffin but he has to be better for this team to win.

The Redskins have their backs against the wall this week.  They are staring down the bye week followed by 3 in a row against other teams from the NFC East.  A loss and they are already in spoiler mode.  I think they will be inspired and be able to beat the Panthers to put some juice back into their season.  Hopefully we will see a duel between Griffin and Newton.
