This was supposed to be a game between two teams looking to rise in their respective conferences, perhaps even challenge for the playoffs. Instead we have a real dog with little importance, doesn’t mean we can’t try and make some money off it though.

At this point the Panthers are looking to salvage what they can from this season. They have won 2 of their last 4 games and should be looking at this one as a chance to prove they are not in the bottom tier of NFL teams. This is the fifth time they have been the favourite this season but they have covered in just one of those opportunities so beware. Cam Newton is still struggling although he is leading the team in rushing as well as passing of course.

He lost his opportunity to duel with Michael Vick last week but still turned in his best performance of the season with 306 yards and most importantly no interceptions. He is dinged up but expected to play on Sunday. The Panthers are a solid bet because as faulted as they are the Chiefs are worse. Just don’t expect them to blow anybody out.[soliloquy id=”82219″]
Kansas City
The Chiefs lost again last week but made backers happy by just covering the number against Denver. That makes 8 losses in a row with the only hope for turning it around this week being that this game is at home. Perhaps an opponent they are at least capable of beating inspires their effort level. Against Denver last week it was more of the same as the offense didn’t score more than 16 points for the 7th week in row – the Chiefs are the lowest scoring team in the league at 14.6ppg. Running back Jamaal Charles got untracked with 107 yards but the passing game is a disaster no matter who is directing it, Brady Quinn or Matt Cassel. The pressure should be off at this point of the season but you have to hope that pride hasn’t completely disappeared. I don’t know how you can bet on the K.C. side with confidence under any circumstances this season. Their ATS record is only marginally better than their SU record.
