This year has been a huge disappointment for Carolina. They were supposed to be building off of last year’s surprising success to become at least a threat in the NFC South.

Instead they have been so bad that they fired their GM midway through the season…as if that is going to do anything.
They are staring down a schedule that might put them in that top slot again at the draft next April.

For Carolina it all starts and ends with athletic QB Cam Newton. Last year he was a revelation but this year he is enjoying a bit of a sophomore slump.
Part of it may be the attention of opposing defenses but you also have to continue to get smarter the longer you are in this league.
e is also not being helped by the fact that the running game has been a big disappointment and his receiving weapons are a bit lame after Steve Smith.
There is nothing Carolina has done to make you think they can really threaten the Bears but this number just seems too big to me as I don’t think too much of the Bears offensive abilities.
This is the biggest number on the Panthers this season, bigger than when they hit the road to Atlanta to face the still undefeated Falcons where they covered as 7 point dogs losing by just 2.

Chicago
The Chicago Bears are in the driver’s seat in the NFC North. With just one loss so far they are in first place with winnable games this week and next which could extend their lead. They are going to want to collect as many as they can now as they finish with three of their final four on the road.
They are catching Carolina at a perfect time too as little has gone right for the Panthers this year.
The Bears are 8th in scoring but there is disconnect as they are just 22nd in yards.
For all the good things people are saying about the reunification of Jay Cutler with Brandon Marshall this passing attack is still in the bottom third as no other receiver has even 200 yards receiving.
Matt Forte is looking sharp this year but they are not abusing him with too many carries. Picking up Michael Bush in the offseason is looking like a very smart move.
The Bears should win and I expect them to be in control but the number is just too big for a team constructed the way they are.
They haven’t been a favourite this big since the opener against Indianapolis but I guess oddsmakers are getting tired of being hammered.
The Bears are 4-2 ATS with each of those ATS wins by at least points.
Statistically this team has been dominating.
