Super Bowl betting has finally arrived, and Bookmaker Sportsbook customers will have one final chance to boost their bankrolls for the football season. In Super Bowl XLIII, the Arizona Cardinals (12-7, 12-7 ATS) will look to shock the world and become improbable champions of the football world, but standing in their way will be the Pittsburgh Steelers (14-4, 11-7 ATS).

Both teams have bulled their way to Tampa Bay with impressive performances throughout the playoffs, as both are undefeated both SU and ATS in this postseason. The last time these two squads met was in 2007, when the Cards upset the Steelers 21-14.

The oddsmakers offered no respect to Arizona two weeks ago, as they were four-point underdogs at home against the 6th seeded Philadelphia Eagles. QB Kurt Warner, who is making a strong case for going from an AFL quarterback to an NFL Hall of Famer, had another fantastic showing, completing 21 of 28 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns. For the postseason, Warner has completed 66.3% of his passes for 770 yards and eight TDs against just two picks. His success can be attributed to that of his leading receiver, Larry Fitzgerald. The U-Pitt product has had one of the more amazing postseasons for a wide out in the history of the NFL. He has had at least six catches, 100 yards, and a touchdown in each of his three games, and looks more like a fantasy football stat sheet than a receiver. Fitzgerald has hauled in 23 balls for 419 yards and five touchdowns. If the Steelers vaunted defense can’t stop Fitzgerald and Warner, it’s going to be a long day for the black and gold.

Should that defense be the reason that the Steelers get to lift the Lombardi Trophy for an NFL-record sixth time, it will go down in the history of the NFL as one of the best units ever to take the field. The Pittsburgh ‘D’ ranked first in total yards allowed (237.3), first in passing yards allowed (157.1), second in rushing yards allowed (80.2), and first in points allowed (13.9). Eight of the sixteen foes that came up against the Pittsburgh ‘D’ failed to score more than ten points this season, and it should come as no surprise that Steelers bettors went 6-2 ATS in those eight games. In the AFC Championship game, Troy Polamalu and company made rookie QB Joe Flacco and the Ravens offense look second rate. Flacco threw three picks, which equated to three of the four turnovers that the Steelers forced en route to the 23-14 victory.

Oddsmakers have lined the Steelers at -7 in this Super Bowl XLIII betting match-up, with the ‘total’ lined at a lofty 46.5. In spite of the strength of the Pitt ‘D’, expect to see a lot of points hit the scoreboard. ‘Over’ bettors are 12-2 in Pittsburgh’s L/14 playoff games, including a perfect 2-0 this postseason. Arizona’s betting trends are even stronger, as it is 38-13 towards the ‘over’ in its L/51 games as an underdog.
