Buffalo Bills vs. San Francisco 49ers Free Gambling Prediction & Week 5 Preview

Bills vs 49ers NFL Football Spread/Handicapping

The Bills absolutely fell apart last week.

It might seem obvious but this team is just not good enough, or mentally tough enough, to afford any mistakes…and when they come in bunches they are literally dead in the water.

Buffalo

After getting waxed by New England they now have to travel cross country to face maybe the best team in the league.

I don’t like their chances of a competitive game but covering is a real possibility.

Luckily for the Bills, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has focused his mistakes in a couple of contests (or else they might be 0-4 – there have been that many in total).

The Bills will try and control the game with their 2 headed running game but doing so against San Francisco could definitely be a challenge.  They will need C.J Spiller to be a factor in all facets of the game.

After a hot two game start he has been a non-factor the last couple of weeks.

This is a very big number – in fact I was shocked as some books had it at 9.5.  As long as it stays in double digits I do like the Buffalo side.

They are not a horrible offensive team so if they don’t turn it over they can keep it within a couple of scores.

Especially given SF is not all that explosive either.

San Francisco

The San Francisco 49ers put a complete beating on the Jets last week. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Shutouts in the NFL are pretty rare, especially on the road.  Now they are home to face another AFC East team – the Bills – who were beaten handily by the same Jets in week 1.

Does that mean they will beat them by 50 points, probably not, but it is possible they put a similar hurt on them.  They have to keep winning to keep pace with their newly competitive division.

Against New York, San Francisco only gave up 145 yards of total offense.

They stuffed them at the line of scrimmage all day long and gave up just one play that went for more than 20 yards the whole game.  Their own offense was far from spectacular, helped by 4 Jets turnovers, – you don’t often score 34 points with under 400 yards for the game.  The ground game was solid with 245 yards including a few long scampers.

I give the Bills no chance at pulling the upset here but those are 11 big points.

If QB Alex Smith doesn’t have a super sharp game or get the advantage of multiple defensive turnovers I don’t see the 49ers putting up enough points against a defense that contained the high powered Patriots for a half.

You might want to look at teasing this one down to a more palatable number.
