Baltimore Ravens vs. Denver Broncos Gambling Prediction & AFC Divisional Preview

Ravens vs. Broncos NFL Football Spread/Handicapping

Ravens won but gave up lots of yards to the Colts who just couldn’t convert when it mattered most.  Are they going to be able to have the same success against a Denver team clicking on all cylinders?

Baltimore

The Ravens won on Sunday in a game that was closer than it looked.  The final score of 24-9 reflected the Ravens ability to stymie the Colts once they got closer to the goal line but it was hardly the kind of performance that makes you think this team is going to roll into Denver and pull off what would be considered a pretty big upset.

Especially since Denver has already beaten up Baltimore once this season and it wasn’t that long ago…

Against Denver the Ravens should once again look to run the ball and hit a few big plays in the passing game.  They put up 172 yards on the ground against the Colts and I think if they reach that number again they will be happy with the result.

QB Joe Flacco to WR Anquan Boldin was a brilliant combo on Sunday but CB Champ Bailey might make that more difficult so he will need to get more receivers involved.

Other than Boldin receivers caught just 3 balls, that number needs to go up…

Last week’s ATS win was just the second since December for the Ravens.  As a heavy underdog I think you have to like Baltimore as they are a good team and Denver’s public perception is probably higher than it needs to be.

Recent trends have also been in favour of those teams that play the first weekend of the playoffs too. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Denver

I probably shouldn’t be at this point but I am little surprised about Denver this year.

I did think Peyton Manning would make a difference but I envisioned this team as being 10-6 not the 13-3 juggernaut that ripped off 11 straight victories to close the season.  All by a touchdown or more too…Denver is a top 4 team on both sides of the ball.  With Manning at the helm they have changed their offensive identity.

He has made receivers Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker into fantasy stars with just enough running to keep teams honest.

On defense, linebacker Von Miller gets the attention for his sacks but this team just doesn’t give up much, second in yards against running and passing…

The Broncos finished the season 10-6 ATS, they were 8-3 during their 11 game winning streak.  They lost just one game at home this season and I think they will win but those are a lot of points to cover in a contest like this.

The Broncos could blow them out but it doesn’t seem likely to me
