The Cardinals suffered their second straight loss last week after starting the season 4-0 while the Vikings will be looking to rebound from a loss of their own – a 36-28 defeat at the hands of RG III and the Washington Redskins.

The Quarterback carousel continues in Arizona – it appears as though John Skelton will retake his starting job after Kevin Kolb was knocked from last week’s game with a rib injury. Good news? Ahhhhh not so much.

Arizona’s offense has been bad all season – it is a wonder that they were able to start 4-0. They are 28th in the league in passing averaging less than 200 yards per game and they are 27th in rushing and will be without Beanie Wells and Ryan Matthews again this week.

They are 26th in scoring which begs the question – where is the offense going to come from this week?

The Cardinals will have to rely on their defense – a unit that has been good all season long. They are 9th against the pass averaging 216 yards against per game, they are 19th against the run and they give up just 16.17 points per game – good for 4th in the NFL.

The Minnesota Vikings have morphed into a very good all-around football team. Christian Ponder seems to finally “get it” and his weapons Percy Harvin and Kyle Rudolf have really allowed Ponder to step up his game.

Together they have the Vikings with the 17th ranked passing game in the NFL and they are coming off their best game offensively this season – 352 yards through the air. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The Vikes running game has also been predictably solid ranking 8th in the league and averaging 126.67 yards per game. Adrian Peterson is a bonafide Stud and will certainly be a challenge for the Cardinals run stoppers.

Minnesota’s defense has also been much improved this season. They are 10th against the pass and 11th versus the run. They allowed Robert Griffin III a huge game last week but what NFL defense hasn’t so far this season.

Betting Prediction:

• The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Arizona’s last 6 games
• The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Arizona’s last 6 games on the road
• Arizona is 9-3 SU in its last 12 games
• The total has gone OVER in 5 of Arizona’s last 7 games when playing on the road against Minnesota
• Minnesota is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games when playing at home against Arizona
• Minnesota is 9-2 SU in its last 11 games when playing Arizona
• The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Minnesota’s last 5 games
• The total has gone OVER in 5 of Minnesota’s last 7 games when playing at home against Arizona

Arizona’s Cinderella start to their season is all but over. With one playmaker on offense, an average quarterback and an unimpressive running game, the Cards will be hard pressed against most teams they face the rest of the way. The Vikings are too balanced, too explosive and too confident to be denied in front of their home town fans. Defensively Arizona may hold their own but they likely won’t be able to score enough to keep up with this up-and-coming Minnesota team.

Pick: Minnesota Vikings -6
