2015 Steelers Preview & NFL Football Future Lines & Pick

2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Season Predictions

The defending AFC North division champion Pittsburgh Steelers try to build off an 11-5 season that saw them have one of the most dangerous offenses in all of football. QB Ben Roethlisberger has put himself up in the same class as the best QBs currently in football.

However, what let the Steelers down was their defense. In 2014, the defense allowed touchdown and after touchdown and big play after big play.

The Steelers defense had only 33 sacks in 2014, which was their lowest since the 1989 season. They also averaged an allowed 4.4 yards per play.

The opposition was consistently finding the sticks and keeping the threatening Steelers’ offense off the field.

The prolific offense averaged 411 yards per game. QB Ben Roethlisberger threw for 4952 yards and 32 touchdowns in 2014. His standout games came in back-to-back performances against the Texans and Colts. Roethlisberger threw 6 touchdowns in each game and had zero in both as well. He threw for 334 yards against Baltimore in the AFC Wild Card Game, but his defense allowed 30 points in a 30-17 loss.

As far as the running back spot is concerned, Le’Veon Bell will get a majority of the work. In 2014, Bell rushed for 1361 yards and 8 touchdowns. He’ll have some depth behind him as Deangelo Williams and Dri Archer back him up.

Williams was the go to guy in Carolina for some time, but really lost his place there and became a nonentity. Dri Archer, a Kent State product, was draft by Pittsburgh and has shown he has break away speed. He’ll get his share of carries and could be a receiving type RB too as if he gets in the open field, look out.

Out wide, Antonio Brown still leads the charge for Pittsburgh as Roethlisberger’s main target. In 2014, Brown had 129 catches for 1698 yards and 13 touchdowns. Along with him, the Steelers will have Martavis Bryant and Markus Wheaton. The duo have 2 and 3 years of experience, respectively.

As mentioned earlier, the defense is the main key for Pittsburgh. After being terrible in 2014, they decided to make a few necessary changes.

Now calling the shots defensively will be Keith Butler.

Last year, they had forced multiple turnovers from the opposition just twice and have 41 forced turnovers over the past 2 seasons. With that, it’s obvious the defense has been a major problem, not just last season.

The secondary is one of the youngest in the NFL and could be picked apart if they do not develop quick this season.

2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Season Prediction:

It’s clear why the Pittsburgh Steelers are what they are.  The offense has the ability to put up points with no problem, which is why they had 11 wins. If the defense failed them, Roethlisberger had the ability to keep the team in the shootout.

The offense has stayed the same, but the already bad defense got a little bit younger, but also weaker.

The Steelers are still a 10 or 11 win team with a division title or a Wild Card berth in their sights.
