Chargers Season Win Total: 9 wins

Here’s a look at the San Diego Chargers’ schedule for the upcoming season.

Week 1: Mon, Sept. 8 at Cardinals – The Chargers start the season under lights on Monday Night Football. That’s actually a bit of an advantage for them as there is no question they won’t be overlooking the Cardinals in this one, and plenty of teams were certainly guilty of that a year ago.

Week 2: Sun, Sept. 14 vs. Seahawks – A short week in advance of a game against the defending Super Bowl champions isn’t ideal, but the team should have a raucous crowd behind them in their home opener.

Week 3: Sun, Sept. 21 at Bills – The Chargers’ schedule begins to lighten up in Week 3 when they make the trip out to Buffalo to take on the Bills. The Bills have some young and improving options on offense, but the Chargers have had their number in recent meetings.

Week 4: Sun, Sept. 28 vs. Jaguars – Returning home to take on the Jaguars in what stands out as probably the easiest game on the team’s schedule should mean an easy win for the Chargers. Buffalo in September isn’t a hard place to play, and there’s no lookahead factor to be weary of.

Week 5: Sun, Oct. 5 vs. Jets – A second consecutive home game for the Charges as they take on a Jets team that has undergone a lot of transition in recent seasons.

Week 6: Sun, Oct. 12 at Raiders – The Raiders have certainly talked the talk during the offseason, and the Chargers will surely look to quiet when the teams meet for the first time this season. Three teams made it to the postseason out of the AFC West in 2013, but there isn’t room for a fourth playoff team within the division.

Week 7: Sun, Oct. 19 vs. Chiefs – The Chargers’ first meeting with the Chiefs comes at home, and this game could have some important playoff implications after these teams claimed both wild card spots a year ago.

Week 8: Thurs, Oct. 23 at Broncos – Few teams have given the Broncos problems the way that the Chargers have over the last couple season. Getting this contest under the Thursday night lights means a short week for Peyton Manning.

Week 9: Sun, Nov. 2 at Dolphins – A trip to take on a good and improving Dolphins team comes in a tough spot for the Chargers. They’ll be coming off a pretty big road game against the Broncos and have their bye week just in front of them.

Week 10: BYE

Week 11: Sun, Nov. 16 vs. Raiders – The Chargers will need to take care of business against the Raiders coming out of their bye as their schedule only gets tougher the rest of the way.

Week 12: Sun, Nov. 23 vs. Rams – Mark this game off as just about the last chance the Chargers are going to have to take a breath this season, with a daunting five-game slate in front of them. Consider this one a must-win for the Bolts regardless of their record.

Week 13: Sun, Nov. 30 at Ravens – A rough closing stretch to the season begins in Baltimore for the Chargers. The Ravens have defended their home field well in the John Harbaugh era. The Chargers have closed strong in recent seasons, but closing strong in this final stretch of five games will not be easy.

Week 14: Sun, Dec. 7 vs. Patriots – The Chargers and Patriots have developed a pretty good rivalry for teams that don’t even play in the same division. The Chargers will be happy to get this game at home rather than having to make the trip out to Foxborough in December.

Week 15: Sun, Dec. 14 vs. Broncos – The Chargers draw the Broncos again, this time on their home field, where Peyton Manning and his offense have looked out of sorts even dating back to his days with the Colts.

Week 16: Sat, Dec. 20 at 49ers – A short week for the Chargers as they make the trip out to San Francisco in the midst of a tough stretch of games. A prime time game at Levi’s Stadium will surely mean a noisy stadium.

Week 17: Sun, Dec. 28 at Chiefs – Speaking of noisy stadiums, the Kansas City fans haven’t gotten the respect they deserve of late thanks to the folks out in Seattle, but the Chiefs will surely give the Chargers a run for their money in a game that could have significant playoff implications.
