2014 Baltimore Ravens Schedule | Season Handicapping Picks

NFL Football – Ravens Analysis

The Baltimore Ravens finished the 2013 NFL season with an 8-8 record, which left them barely on the outside looking in when it came to the Wild Card contest between the 9-7 San Diego Chargers and 11-5 Kansas City Chiefs.

Ravens Odds [dfads params=’groups=63740&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
Odds to win the 2015 Super Bowl XLIX: 40/1
Odds to win the 2015 AFC Conference: 18/1
Season Win Total: 10 wins

The team tied records with Miami, Pittsburgh and the New York Jets, and now it looks to make a move back to the postseason.

Sunday, Sept. 7 vs. Cincinnati – The Ravens are fortunate to start the season at home, but the Bengals will provide a serious challenge. Winning this one will be important, as the team only has four days to recuperate before a big-time showdown with Pittsburgh.

Thursday, Sept. 11 vs. Pittsburgh – Despite going just 8-8 one year after winning the Super Bowl, the Baltimore Ravens have been granted three primetime games. The first comes in Week 2 on Thursday night against Big Ben and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Sunday, Sept. 21 @ Cleveland – Week 3 features the first road contest of the year for Baltimore. Getting to Cleveland at this point in the year will help the Ravens avoid some nasty weather late in the season.

Sunday, Sept. 28 vs. Carolina – Steve Smith is out for blood. In fact, his exact words about facing his former team were, “blood and guts everywhere.” This is must-see t.v.

Sunday, Oct. 5 @ Indianapolis – Weeks 5 through 9 have a chance to make up one of the toughest stretches of the season for Baltimore. Things begin against Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts.

Sunday, Oct. 12 @ Tampa Bay – Virtually every team in the NFL will approach this game with the same mentality: This is a winnable game, but you just can’t take any team for granted on the road.

Sunday, Oct. 19 vs. Atlanta – The Atlanta Falcons struggled mightily last season, but this one is a game to watch out for, assuming Julio Jones is back to 100 percent.

Sunday, Oct. 26 @ Cincinnati – Cincinnati is the team that eliminated Baltimore from playoff contention last season. If the home opener doesn’t go the Ravens’ way, this will be the last chance for revenge of the regular season.

Sunday, Nov. 2 @ Pittsburgh – Like the first go-around between these two teams, this matchup will be broadcast on national television. Baltimore has won the previous two Sunday Night Football contests at Heinz Field.

Sunday, Nov. 9 vs. Tennessee – Tennessee doesn’t present itself as a traditional challenge to Baltimore, but Bernard Pollard will be out for blood, not unlike what Smith will try to do to the Panthers.

BYE WEEK

Monday, Nov. 24 @ New Orleans – The last time Baltimore went down to the Big Easy, they hoisted a championship trophy after 60 minutes of football. This time the team will be facing the home-town New Orleans Saints, and it will be on Monday Night Football.

Sunday, Nov. 30 vs. San Diego – If fans in Baltimore aren’t already thinking about the playoffs, this one should fuel the fire. Philip Rivers isn’t always the most reliable quarterback, but he’s played well against the Ravens in years prior.

Sunday, Dec. 7 @ Miami – A late-season game in South Beach? Yes pleas. Baltimore gets a chance to escape the weather in this one.

Sunday, Dec. 14 vs. Jacksonville – This game will be a lot like the Tennessee game earlier in the year, in the sense that you simply can’t overlook Jacksonville. This one should really come down to how well Jacksonville’s 1st rd pick QB Blake Bortles is performing at this point in the season.

Sunday, Dec. 21 @ Houston –  The Texans have a lot of work to do if they hope to return to contention. Luckily for them, they have a No. 1 pick who should be well-developed with just two games to go in the regular season.

Sunday, Dec. 28 vs. Cleveland – The Ravens haven’t finished a regular season at home in three seasons. That trend changes this year, as they close out competition against Cleveland in Week 17.
