Cappers Picks NFL Power Rankings – Week 3 – September 18th 2013

Dave B’s NFL Power Rankings – Week 3

NFL Power Rankings – Where Every Team Sits After Week 2

Week 2 of the NFL season is in the books and as per usual, the weekend brought about some surprises that resulted in a reshaping of the Power Rankings landscape.

There are a few surprise undefeated teams leaping into the top 12 and a few Week 2 winners that have slipped out of the dirty dozen – crazy!

There is a new Ruler at the top of the Rankings this week with some familiar teams occupying the basement.

Let’s take a look at how Week 2’s action affected Dave B’s weekly Power Rankings.

1. SEAHAWKS (Last Week: 3)

Seattle hasn’t lost at home since Christmas Eve 2011. Nine straight wins. Average score of the last four of those wins: 37-8. They beat the 49ers in the last two home games by a combined score of 71-16, culminating in a 29-3 beat down Sunday. If that’s not a #1 team I don’t know what is.

2. BRONCOS (Last Week: 2)

The Broncos have absolutely handled two very good teams in the first week of the season – there is no doubt that they are top dogs in the AFC. The defense is still missing some key players but the offense is absolutely on fire – 90 points scored so far.

3. 49ERS (Last Week’s Ranking: 1)

Hard to fault the Niners for losing in Seattle – everyone loses in the Pacific Northwest right now. Seattle seems to be their kryptonite but they do play three of near next four games on home turf.

4. TEXANS (Last Week: 4)

May be a little lucky to hold onto #4 after escaping two weeks in a row. But with both of their bad games likely out of the way, it is hard to see the Texans being forced to eek out games the rest of the way. Mind you with Baltimore, Seattle and San Francisco up the next three weeks, this could be the last time we see them in the top 5 for a while.

5. BEARS (Last Week: 9)

Not the best team in the NFC but certainly the best in the North. The Bears are playing with confidence. They have a vulnerable Pittsburgh Steelers on the horizon – Mark Trestman and crew should be 3-0 after Sunday!

6. SAINTS (Last Week: 6)

Defense, Defense! Ya its true the Saints defense was the difference Sunday – the team has given up an average of just 15.5 points in their first two games – unbelievable. With Drew Brees and company likely taking a mulligan after last week’s game, watch for the offense to be the stars again in the future.

7. DOLPHINS (Last Week: 21)

I didn’t give them any love last week but this team – at 2-0 deserves its due now. Ryan Tannehill looks legit and Mike Wallace’s whining seems to have gotten the attention of his coaching staff. The Fins lead the AFC East and sit at #7 on the Rankings – hard to believe!

8. PATRIOTS (Last Week: 5)

Maybe a bit generous? Ya, I agree but I just can’t doubt Belichek and Brady. The Pats have looks down-right inept on offense at times this season – they punted 11 times on Thursday night!

9. FALCONS (Last Week: 8)

Matt Ryan to Julio Jones could be legendary. The defense almost let the Rams back in it Sunday but the Falcons prevailed and land inside the Top 10 again this week. Steven Jackson may be out a while which certainly hurts.

10. CHIEFS (Last Week: 20)

It is hard to believe but the Chiefs are legit! Zero turnovers under Alex Smith and two wins! A victory over the Cowboys has opened my eyes – a matchup Thursday against Andy Reid’s old Eagles has my mouth watering!

11. PACKERS (Last Week: 7)

Destroyed the Redskins in a game that Mr. Rodgers threw for 480 yards and they drop in the Rankings? It’s crazy I know but there have been more impressive teams so far this young season!

12. BENGALS (Last Week: 10)

The Bengals have all the pieces but have yet to put it all together this season. I love the offense and I love the defense – the AFC North could be their division to lose this year!

13. COWBOYS (Last Week: 11)
14. COLTS (Last Week: 12)
15. CHARGERS (Last Week: 26)
16. EAGLES (Last Week: 15)
17. RAVENS (Last Week: 13)
18. TITANS (Last Week: 22)
19. LIONS (Last Week: 14)
20. RAMS (Last Week: 16)
21. CARDINALS (Last Week: 24)
22. GIANTS (Last Week 17)
23. REDSKINS (Last Week: 18)
24. VIKINGS (Last Week: 23)
25. BILLS (Last Week: 25)
26. STEELERS (Last Week: 29)
27. JETS (Last Week: 28)
28. PANTHERS (Last Week: 19)
29. BUCCANEERS (Last Week: 27)
30. RAIDERS (Last Week 31)
31. BROWNS (Last Week: 30)
32. JAGUARS (Last Week: 32)
