Dave B’s NFL Power Rankings – Week 15

NFL Power Rankings – Where Every Team Sits After Week 14

Week 14 of the NFL season is in the books and typically it was a Wild Sunday ride. Snowstorms, crazy comebacks, potentially season defining injuries and some blown calls by referees all had a hand in the Power Rankings this week – ONLY IN THE NFL!

Let`s break it all down in this week’s edition of Dave B’s NFL Power Rankings

1. SEAHAWKS (Last Week: 1)

Maintain their spot at #1 despite losing on Sunday. But the Hawks played a terrific road game in San Francisco against a 49ers team that played desperate football. In the end the Hawks gave up just 318 yards of offense and 19 points – no bad considering they were on a short week. There is still no better all around team in the NFL right now.

2. BRONCOS (Last Week: 2)

The Broncos hung 50+ points on an opponent again – Manning tossed for 400 yards and 4 TDs – ho hum! There is simply nobody in the AFC that can stop this offense – they have four pass catchers with at least 8 TDs on the year and a running game that has found another gear. Defense could be an issue but when you score an average of 41 per game, there aren’t a whole lot of offenses that will keep up. How about the 64 yard field goal by Matt Prater? Insane!

3. SAINTS (Last Week: 4)

Nice bounce back game by the Saints who did to the Panthers what the Seahawks did to them the week before. Brew Brees, Marques Colston and Jimmy Graham all had big games and Rob Ryan’s defense was incredible in Week 14.

4. PATRIOTS (Last Week: 5)

The Pats maintain their spot after a less-than-impressive win against Cleveland in a game they gave up almost 500 yards, benefitted from a sketchy pass interference call and recovered an on-side kick. Rob Gronkowski is gone for the season after tearing an ACL as well. Oh oh – no Gronk and no stout defense? Be worried Pats fans!

5. PANTHERS (Last Week: 3)

Their eight game win streak is over – you can’t win them all! No shame in a letdown game in one of the most difficult buildings in the planet to play in – just ask the Saints. The Panthers will get another crack at the Saints but have the honor of playing the Jets first.

6. 49ERS (Last Week’s Ranking: 7)

The Niners won a statement game against Seattle but it wasn’t as resounding as many San Francisco fans had hoped for. The offense was still largely a disappointment but the defense keeps rising to the occasion. They have now allowed an average of just 13.5 points per game over their last six – impressive!

7. CHIEFS (Last Week: 6)

Won Sunday but slip in the Rankings because of the caliber of team they beat – the Washington Redskins. Still, they are back on the winning track with a formula that has worked for them all season long – conservative passing, Jamaal Charles and solid defense.

8. BENGALS (Last Week: 8)

The Bengals offense had their first good game in a while and proved that they can move the ball when they are “on”. Cinci. scored four touchdowns in the second half in Week 14 to defeat the Colts and they have control of the AFC North still. Defensively the Bengals were a tad sloppy but there is no doubt they are one of the more complete teams in the AFC.

9. EAGLES (Last Week: 11)

SNOW GAME!! The Eagles started slowly against Detroit and cranked it up in the second half thanks to LeSean McCoy’ 217 yards rushing. Things are looking up for this team – they play an Adrian Peterson-less Vikings and have a shot at Dallas and their awful defense down the stretch.

10. CARDINALS (Last Week: 13)

Look out for the Arizona Cardinals who look good in the NFC Wild Card chase. They put a lickin’ on the Rams Sunday 30-10 and have won five of their last six games but have the displeasure of facing the Seahawks and the 49ers down the stretch.

11. RAVENS (Last Week: 15)

Insane comeback Sunday indeed over the Vikings has the Ravens in the mix in the AFC. Marlon Brown is really stepping up and the return if Dennis Pitta looks key for this team – a team that made quite a run at this time last time last year – remember?

12. COLTS (Last Week: 9)

Not sure what to make of the Colts but they have wrapped up the AFC South. The defense isn’t giving this team a chance to win – neither is the inconsistent running game and pass catchers!

13. BEARS (Last Week: 14)
14. LIONS (Last Week: 10)
15. COWBOYS (Last Week: 12)
16. CHARGERS (Last Week: 16)
17. STEELERS (Last Week: 17)
18. RAMS (Last Week: 18)
19. DOLPHINS (Last Week: 19)
20. TITANS (Last Week: 20)
21. PACKERS (Last Week: 21)
22. GIANTS (Last Week 22)
23. JETS (Last Week: 23)
24. JAGUARS (Last Week: 31)
25. BUCCANEERS (Last Week: 26)
26. BROWNS (Last Week: 27)
27. BILLS (Last Week: 24)
28. RAIDERS (Last Week 25)
29. VIKINGS (Last Week: 29)
30. REDSKINS (Last Week: 28)
31. FALCONS (Last Week: 30)
32. TEXANS (Last Week: 32)
