2013 San Diego Chargers Complete Season Schedule | Handicapping

Chargers Schedule – NFL Football

Next up. The San Diego Chargers. One of my favorite tools in preparing for the 2013 NFL football season and to enhance your nfl wagering knowledge is to look ahead at each teams NFL schedule, and evaluate the games they will play.

2013 Regular Season Opponents

Mon, Sep 9 vs Houston – Tough season opener for the Chargers on Monday night facing Matt Schaub and Adrian Foster. Phillip Rivers may get off to a good start facing a Houston pass defense that only ranked 16th last season.

Sun, Sep 15 @ Philadelphia – The first road game is also a tough one facing the Eagles on the road. Philadelphia has a new head coach in Chip Kelly, who may give the Eagles a dynamic offense, which Michael Vick can run and may give fits to the Chargers’ defense.

Sun, Sep 22 @ Tennessee – The Chargers had a solid run defense last season ranking 6th and if they can keep Chris Johnson from having a big game the Bolts have a great chance to win.

Sun, Sep 29 vs Dallas – The Chargers host Tony Romo and the Cowboys where their secondary will be tested. In the 4th game will Rivers be off to a good start and will RB Ryan Mathews be healthy?

Sun, Oct 6 @ Oakland – The Chargers won their season opener in Oakland last season and will their defense be facing Matt Flynn or Terrelle Pryor? This is the Chargers first AFC West game of the season.

Mon, Oct 14 vs Indianapolis – The Chargers host Andrew Luck and the Colts and while Indy made the playoffs last season their defense struggled. The Colts were 4-4 on the road last season.

Sun, Oct 20 @ Jacksonville – Ryan Mathews may be the key in this game, as he will be facing a Jacksonville run defense that really struggled last season ranking 30th in the NFL. Blaine Gabbert has been named the starting Jax QB, but will he still be the starter in Week 7?

BYE WEEK

Sun, Nov 3 @ Washington – Good thing the Chargers have a bye before playing the Redskins, who had the league’s top ranked rushing offense last season. RG3 and Alfred Morris will be a handful for the San Diego defense and Rivers may have to shoulder the offensive load facing a Washington D that was solid against the run, but struggled, big time, against he pass last season. Sun, Nov 10 vs Denver – At least the first game facing Payton Manning and the Broncos is at home where the Chargers lost to Denver last season. The Chargers’ pass defense ranked 18th in the league last season and they now have to deal with a Denver offense that now has 3 WR’s that had at least 1,000 receiving yards last season.

Sun, Nov 17 @ Miami – The Chargers are in the Sunshine State to face the Dolphins, who have young talent on their team, but big issues at the RB position. On top of that last season did not prove that Ryan Tannehill is the answer at QB. Still, the Dolphins were a solid 5-3 at home last season.

Sun, Nov 24 @ Kansas City – The Chargers beat the Chiefs on the road last season 37-20 and this is their first chance to see new KC QB Alex Smith. The Chargers’ run defense will get a heavy dose of RB Jamaal Charles, who ranked 4th in the league last season in rushing yards.

Sun, Dec 1 vs Cincinnati – Tough game at home facing the young Bengals’ team that has a good offense and a defense that ranked 7th against the pass and 12th against the run last season.

Sun, Dec 8 vs New York Giants – The Giants faltered down the stretch last season and Rivers will face a NY pass defense that only ranked 28th in the league.

Thu, Dec 12 @ Denver – On the road facing Denver is never an easy task and last season the Bolts played a close game there even though Rivers threw 2 picks and was sacked 4 times.

Sun, Dec 22 vs Oakland – The Chargers beat the Raiders at home last season even though Rivers only passed for 151 yards. Will this game mean anything for these teams late in the season?

Sun, Dec 29 vs Kansas City – Last game at home facing the Chiefs and will the Alex Smith experiment work in Kansas City?
