NFL Power Rankings – Week 4 – Sept 27

Dave B’s NFL Power Rankings – Week 4

Week 3 of the NFL Regular Season is in the books – what a weekend it was! There were some insane upsets, three overtime games and some injuries that threaten to shake up the Rankings this week. When the dust settled, there were only three undefeated teams all of which made the Top 5 on the list. The NFL is all about parity and the Rankings this week’s support the fluidity of the game.

Enough talk – let’s get on with Dave B’s Week 4 edition of the Rankings!

1. FALCONS (2) – dismantled the Broncos in the first three quarters last week and destroyed the Chargers in San Diego this week. Both elements of the offense was clicking in Week 3 and the defense more than held its own against a decent offense in San Diego. The Falcons are a scary team that can win on the road as well as at home and deserve top spot in this week’s Rankings.

2. TEXANS (3) – Beat a tough Broncos team at Mile High in Week 3 and are one of three remaining undefeated team. They are talented everywhere on the field and Matt Schaub proved that they are not without an element of toughness as well.

3. 49ERS (1) – The Niners laid an egg against the Vikings in Week 3 – we’ll give them a mulligan. Prior to that they had been dangerous in the u=running game, the passing attack and on defense of course. They are still favored in the NFC and hand onto Top 3 by a thread.

4. GIANTS (9) – The G-Men absolutely schooled the Panthers last Thursday without one of their top offensive weapons. When you have Eli chucking the ball, you are going to be dangerous! They are a tad inconsistent but for now the Giants are Top 5 in my Rankings.

5. RAVENS (7) – The ravens got it done on Sunday night and avenged a bitter defeat from last year’s playoffs to the Patriots. Joe Flacco looks like a man on a mission and has propelled his team into elite status.

6. PATRIOTS (5) – Too high? Consider that they are a last second field goal miss for and a last second field goal against from being perfect on the season. I am still a believer and are comfy with the Patriots at #7.

7. CARDINALS (12) – The Cards beat up on the Eagles on Sunday but could have lost two of the games they have won so far. They are top 10 by virtue of a perfect record but just barely!

8. COWBOYS (14) – The Cowboys were certainly unflattering in their win over the hapless Bucs but the defense was ridiculously strong and the offense did enough in their Week 3 snooze-fest. We`ll see how they do after this week when they host the Bears.

9. CHARGERS (11) – top 10 based on their first two weeks and because of the fact that the other contenders for this spot were equally brutal in Week 3. Ryan Matthews is back which should help – a matchup against KC`s defense should too.

10. EAGLES (6) – beat the Ravens in Week 2 but fell back to earth against Arizona on Sunday. The turnovers finally const them- finally!

11. BEARS (15) – looked awful in Week 2 and if not for a strong defensive effort and a pitiful offensive game by St. Louis, this team may be under .500. But based on the crazy defensive effort on Sunday the Bears land in my Top 15.

12. PACKERS (4) – Their Week 3 loss was a travesty but even if they had won we would be talking about how average they are looking. Green Bay will bounce back and is deserving of a top 15 spot. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

13. STEELERS (8) – Not too many 1-2 teams in my Top 14 but the Steelers played lights out on offense against Oakland and really missed Troy Polamalu and James Harrison on defense. Both should return after Pittsburgh`s Week 4 by – the Steelers will be much better going forward.

14. SEAHAWKS (19) – There were brutal calls for both sides on Monday night but when the dust settles the Hawks are 2-1 and have to be in the top 15 on the Rankings. The defense has given up just two offensive scores in the last two weeks – those games coming against Dallas and Green Bay – impressive!

15. BENGALS (17) – Beat the Redskins in Week 3 with a tremendous offensive effort. After an ugly Week 1 loss, the Bengals have quietly rebounded to two straight nice wins. With Andy Dalton and AJ Green, expectations are that this team will remain in the top half of the league.

16. JETS (20)
17. BILLS (23)
18. VIKINGS (27)
19. BRONCOS (10)
20. LIONS (13)
21. REDSKINS (16)
22. RAMS (24)
23. RAIDERS (29)
24. TITANS (28)
25. CHIEFS (31)
26. JAGUARS (32)
27. COLTS (25)
28. BUCCANEERS (22)
29. PANTHERS (18)
30. DOLPHINS (26)
31. SAINTS (21)
32. BROWNS (30)
