2011 NFL Gambling: Lines | Week 14 Matchups & Predictions

Dave Schwab weighs in on the second week of the NFL 2011 season. A brief review of the current Week 14 point spreads and NFL Week 14 over/under lines for all the games being featured in Week fourteen…

2011 Week 14 NFL Gambling Lines: Top Matchups and Predictions

Week 13 in the NFL was about as even as it gets across the board. There were eight home teams and eight road teams each covering against the spread. The underdogs had a slight edge with nine teams covering ATS.

There were eight games that went ‘over’ on the total line. Seven games stayed ‘under’ and there was one ‘push’

My top picks for Week 13 came up a bit short with a 1-2 record overall, so I decided to get an early jump on crunching the numbers for this week’s matchups in an effort to uncover the value in the lines.

Here are a couple more top plays for Week 14.

Sunday, December 11

Atlanta Falcons (-2.5) vs. Carolina Panthers

The Falcons suddenly find themselves two games in back of New Orleans in the NFC South race after a tough 17-10 loss to Houston last Sunday as one-point road favorites. They may actually look to their defense in this matchup, which is now ranked 10th in the NFL in total yards and points allowed.

Carolina is coming off a 38-19 victory over Tampa Bay last Sunday as a 3.5-point road underdog to go to 4-8 straight-up on the year and an impressive 7-5 against the spread. The Panthers’ offense is surprisingly ranked fifth in total yards and eighth in scoring.

The favorite in this series is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings. Atlanta is 5-1 both SU and ATS in the last six games. Earlier this season, the Falcons won 31-17 as 3.5-point home favorites. The Pick: Atlanta 24 vs. Carolina 17

San Francisco 49ers (-3.5) vs. Arizona Cardinals

The 49ers clinched the NFC West last Sunday with a 26-0 shutout of St. Louis as a 14-point home favorite. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

They are now 10-2 SU on the year and an incredible 10-1-1 ATS. San Francisco cannot afford to take its foot off the gas just yet with New Orleans just one game back in the chase for the No.2 seed in the NFC.

Arizona has won four of its last five games SU and five of six ATS. Kevin Kolb made his return to the lineup last week after missing three games with a foot injury. He passed for 247 yards and one touchdown in the Cardinals thrilling 19-13 overtime victory over Dallas as four-point home underdogs.

The road team in this series is 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings. San Francisco is 6-0 ATS in the last six meetings including a 23-7 win just four weeks ago as a 10-point home favorite. The 49ers are 5-0 ATS in their last five trips to Arizona. The Pick: San Francisco 24 vs. Arizona 20
