A look at the numbers:

QB Jason Campbell had a tough start in Oakland, but played better as the season progressed and his play is key in getting the Raiders to the playoffs.
Campbell finished the season going 7-5 as a starter, completed 59% of his passes for 2,387 yds, 13 TDs, and 8 INT. Not bad, but he needs some legit WR production and he cannot check down and dump the ball off to the RB’s too often like he did last season.
RB Darren McFadden blew up in his 3rd year and rushed for 1,157 and fellow RB Michael Bush chipped in for 655 yards and overall the Raiders ranked 2nd in the league in rushing yards per game. That will be a strong suit of the Raiders again in their rushing offense and if they can get an airial attack Oakland may finally have a well-rounded offense.
TE Zach Miller and Louis Murphy were the top 2 receivers for the Raiders last season and they need to get better production from Darius Heyward Bey and Jacoby Ford this season. Bey is a former high first round pick and he needs a breakout season.
The offensive line gave up 44 sacks last season and to remedy that they picked C Stefen Wisniewski in the 2nd round from Penn St and OT Joseph Barksdale in the 3rd round from LSU in the draft. The line had problem against the pass rush last season, but they were solid at opening up holes for the running game. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
The Raiders main weakness on defense is their defensive line or lack of it, as last season they gave up over 2,100 rushing yards. The Raiders did have 44 sacks last season, but the line is a huge issue and this is especially the case since they did nothing to improve it in the draft. The Raiders may have to be busy in free agency to improve the line with 3 DL over 30 years old.
MLB Rolando McClain had a solid rookie campaign and OLB Kamerion Wimbley had 9 sacks and will be counted on again to pressure the opposing QB.
Oakland’s pass defense was solid last season ranking 2nd in the league last season, but can do that again with stud Namedi Asougmha heading out of the Bay Area when free agency begins? They drafted the CB tandem of DeMarcus VanDyke and Chimdi Chekwa in the draft and these guys will have to replace the production Asougmha gave the Raiders, but that is far from easy, as the Raiders may find out this season.
The Raiders 2011 schedule is not THAT tough and they only play one division game in their first 6 games. The Jets, Patriots, Packers, and Bears are all tough games, but they are at home for 3 of those 4 games. Their last 2 games of the season are against division rivals Kansas City and San Diego and if the Raiders start off the season well those games may be HUGE.
HOW IT STANDS NOW:
The Raiders look to rebuild on their 8-8 season and to do so and get the playoffs Campbell must have a good year. He is the starter going into the season and he must play with confidence.
Also, can the Raiders stop the run? If they can, even just a little, they have a solid chance to make the playoffs, but it is Oakland so you never know.
