2011 Regular Season Opponents

Sun, Sept. 11 CAROLINA This was once an excellent match-up; now both franchises are in varying points of misery. Despite an uninspiring cast, WR Larry Fitzgerald can show he’s primed for another big season in this home opener.

Sun, Sept. 18 @ Washington The Cards’ first couple games aren’t ratings-busters by any means, but it at least gives the Redbirds the opportunity to start the season out on the right note – with two attainable wins.

Sun, Sept. 25 @ Seattle I guess this is what you call a gruesome divisional battle, when you’re referring to the NFC West division. Regardless of the division’s ineptitude, Qwest Field is always a tough place to play.

Sun, Oct. 2 NEW YORK GIANTS In the co-operative confines of University of Phoenix Stadium, this could be an aerial attack put on display courtesy of New York’s Eli Manning and Phoenix’s John Skelton (who can at least roll up yards in this offense).

Sun, Oct. 9 @ Minnesota I have a weird hunch that Cards RB Tim Hightower isn’t going to have as fruitful a day in this game as Minny’s Adrian Peterson. Am I crazy? Maybe we should see more liberal amounts of back-up RB Beanie Wells for Arizona…

Sun, Oct. 16 BYE

Sun, Oct. 23 PITTSBURGH Can you believe this is a rematch of the Super Bowl match-up just a few short years ago? Oh, how a Kurt Warner retirement shakes up the world order! The Steelers were first against the run and 12th in the league against the pass last season, so this doesn’t bode well for the home side.

Sun, Oct. 30 @ Baltimore Consecutive weeks squaring off against elite AFC North competition ought to be enough to give ’Zona a Halloween-sized fright.

Sun, Nov. 6 ST. LOUIS If Arizona wants to finish with a competitive NFC West campaign, it must use this home game against the Rams as a bounce-back after the Steelers and Ravens.

Sun, Nov. 13 @ Philadelphia In all likelihood, the Cards go into hostile Philly with a problematic team on both sides of the ball, to play a very electric, dangerous Eagles team. Gulp.

Sun, Nov. 20 @ San Francisco This is a game that the Niners should win, yet San Fran has made a reputation out of stumbling in times like these.

Sun, Nov. 27 @ St. Louis Especially with a chunk of high draft picks the past few years, the Rams are improving. The Cards can’t let that slow them down on the road in the Gateway to the West.

Sun, Dec. 4 DALLAS Talent-wise, America’s Team should grab this game running away, but who knows what you’re going to see out of Dallas from season to season anymore? If the Cowboys secondary is anything like last season’s, there will be chances to go deep to Fitzgerald and Co.

Sun, Dec. 11 SAN FRANCISCO These two home games to open December would be truly daunting, if we rolled the time machine back to the mid-1990s. Still a key divisional battle.

Sun, Dec. 18 CLEVELAND Shall teams – including Arizona – have a game-plan in place to stop Browns RB Peyton Hillis, who burst onto the scene last season?

Sat, Dec. 24 @ Cincinnati The Bengals are an enigmatic team like enough others in the NFL; they were also 4-12 last year. Arizona can nab this one on the road.

Sun, Jan. 1 SEATTLE Will this final regular season game have divisional implications? I almost want to say “Who cares?” That’s kind of mean.
