NFL Future Odds: 2010 NFL MVP Predictions

This year in the NFL betting circles there are quite a few candidates for the 2010 NFL MVP future odds. However there is no clear cut favorite…

2010/2011 Season – NFL Most Valuable Player Odds and Preview

At the end of every season, fifty AP writers sit down and vote for the most valuable player in the NFL. They vote for which player they believe had the biggest impact on their team’s performance that year.

In 2009 Peyton Manning won the award for the fourth time in his career and second year in a row, as he led his team to 14 straight wins before taking the rest of the regular season off after the Colts clinched home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Here is a NFL preview along with the odds for the top MVP hopefuls for the 2010 season.

Peyton Manning
4/1

As long as Peyton Manning is playing this game he is always an automatic candidate to win this award, especially given the fact he has already won it four times. Once again he will lead his team to 12 or 13 wins and be right up there in the voting. It will be up to another player on this list to take the award away from Manning as he will have the necessary numbers to win a fifth career MVP.

Drew Brees
4/1

Brees is another one of those players that will put up the necessary numbers to win the MVP year in and year out. He most likely should have won it last year, but the postseason does not count in the voting. His problem in 2010 is that it will be extremely difficult for his team to match the level of play they put forth in 2009 as that has proven to be extremely difficult to do after winning a Super Bowl.

Tom Brady
6/1

Brady is finally completely recovered from tearing his ACL in the first game of the 2008 season. The real question is how effective will his favorite receiver Wes Welker be after recovering from his own knee surgery this past offseason. Randy Moss appears to be a step slower and on the downside of his career so it will be up to a healthy Welker to carry Brady to a MVP this season.

Chris Johnson
8/1

If there ever was a running back that could break through and win this award, Johnson is the guy. If it was not for the fact his team got off to a horrible 0-6 start last season, his league leading 2006 yards rushing along with an additional 503 yards receiving would have caught more voters eyes. Now that the Titans have reworked his contract and he is a happy camper, numbers like this along with a winning season for Tennessee could swing the vote in his favor.

Philip Rivers
10/1

There are two words that will derail Rivers chance to win this award; Vincent Jackson. The Charger wide receiver who led the team in 2009 with 68 receptions for 1,167 yards is already suspended for the first three games of the season for violating the league’s personal conduct rules and is threatening to sit out even longer in a contract dispute. Rivers simply cannot win this award if he loses a guy that accounted for close to 30 percent of his production.

Aaron Rodgers
12/1

All the pieces are in place for Aaron Rodgers to have a monster year in 2010. While his overall stats are already a dream come true for fantasy football fanatics, his team is finally in position to post a 12-13 win season and capture a NFC North title which would seal the deal.  The Packers offensive line was solid down the stretch last year and the addition of first round pick OT Brian Bulaga only makes it better. Their defense finished 2009 ranked second in the league and basically remains intact for 2010.

Tony Romo
12/1

Romo had a breakthrough year in 2009, especially in the month of December. If he can play like that all season long and his team continues to win, he would have to be considered a strong candidate for this award. The addition of first round draft pick WR Dez Bryant could put the Cowboy’s offense over the top as one of the best in the league.

In likelihood the winner in 2010 will once again be a quarterback as this position has dominated this award over the years. Since 1987 either a quarterback or a running back has won this award. In those 23 years a QB has won the award 17 times.

2010 NFL MVP Free Pick:

Given the improvement in Green Bay’s offensive line, this is the year that Aaron Rodger does more than just put up big numbers; he puts up big wins by leading his team to a NFC North title and a possible appearance in Super Bowl XLV.
